Have you tried looking for Jacob LAGER? That's German for the word camp. MANY Pennsylvanians had their German names converted to English by English census takers. My SCHNEIDER went to SNYDER, my WERI went to WEARY, etc. ZIMMERMAN went to CARPENTER.
