    3. Hello: Kathleen: While I was in the hospital on Jan. 1,2001, Margaret got this virus. The same results that you are talking about. She had to call in PConCall the local PC technicians (they have 20 techs on the road each day, half for business and half for privat problems. When she called them, the responded immediately, although it usually takes a week or so before they can take care of you. The head of the organization showed up with his senior tech, and they worked on it for three hours. It is a virus that was put out last year with a opening date of Jan 1, 2001. It destroyed our McAfree Virus program, and they had to install a new improved one. They did get it out of every nook and crany where this "worm" had buried into it. The only part that was not pleasant is their fee is $79.95 plus sales tax for each half hour. Suggest you get a good computer tech immediatelly, because you won't be able to eradicate it yourself. 3. Thanks Kathleen: You are fortunate in that you are able to take your machine to the shop. We had ours built in Dec. 1998 to our specifications by a local professional builder. It is a Pentium II (the highest at that time), 450 MHz, Cisco 675 high speed modem, 365 RAM, 9.l Hard disk, 3 1/2, 5 1/4, 44X Max CD-ROM, a HP CD-Writer Plus 8100 series drives. The hard disk has a twin fan infront of it to keep it cool, and the bottom of the 2 foot high x 18 inches deep tower also as a stronger set to keep the mothe board cool. That is just to tell you why our tower is so big, that we cannot manhandle it and need to have the computer technician come in. On that Jan 1, 2001 when Margaret got that virus, it shut down the computer, and it was the first time that our techs had heard of it, that is why the owner and his best tech came out. I thought they should have paid us to learn how to fix it when others in our area got it. This virus is contained in the body of an incoming e-mail, and you cannot tell that it is there until you download the incoming e-mail which in this case was from a known correspondent. When we told him about it, it had also infected him and also spread itself to all in his mailing list. NOTE: We do not have a mailing list on our hard disk, we keep a written one in an address book for that purpose. Thanks again for your reply.
