I will be researching the surnames: CLUSKEY FITZGERALD AKENS DAVIS Anyone that is currently researching any of these names please feel free to send me and the list an email. Also, any hints or tips you would like to give me would be greatly appreciated. I will be relying on the "net" a great deal as the cost of petrol here in England is outrageous. 1. [PADutch] zumbro
    2. Seeking info on the 4 bros who came from Ronnenberg/Baumholder GER to PA: Jacob ZUMBRO in 1753; Johanes ZUMBRO in 1756; Joseph ZUMBRO in 1751; and Peter ZUMBRO in 1756. They arrived in Philadelphia and scattered in several different counties in PA (I think). I did not see the ZUMBRO name in the 1790 PA census; however, I did see an "Eva ZUMBRO" who may be Joseph's widow in Berk Co. I have some info on Joseph but nothing on the other 3 brothers. 1. Re: [PADutch] Datestones a German custom?
    2. Hi Mark, There is information to be found on the GENUKI UK and Ireland Genealogy site re: date stones. Look at the Guernsey site. They have an ongoing datestone project that might give you more information on the history of the stones. 3. When you enter the menu, scroll down to the 'site search' box. Key in the surname you are looking for in the box and see what you find! This site has not only obituaries, but also newspaper clippings in a separate file for such items as reunions, anniverseries, weddings, etc. The 'site search' will check both files. If you want to just brouse the obituary part, you can select that file from the main screen where is says 'click here' in the explanation of obituaries. When that screen comes up, it will display the most recent additions to the file since your last visit. You can choose 'set preferences' in the box near the top of the screen to have it display names in chronological, alphabetic, or other criteria order and within a specified time period added. This is not the 'death date' for any person - it is the date when input was done to add the obit to the file. If you find a name you want to see the info for, just hilight the name and press your 'return/enter' key. I hope this helps in understanding how this site works! http://www.pa-roots.com/eastpa/ Good luck! 1. [PADutch] Datestones a German custom?
    2. Hi, Listers I'm a writer doing a magazine piece on the custom of using datestones in residential construction. There's not much written on the subject, but one source told me he thought it was something the Germans brought to the U.S. Somehow, this rings true. I DO know that, here in southeastern Pennsylvania -- a major destination for German immigrants -- there are lots of old stone houses with late 18th and early 19th century datestones. Anyone have any info re: this? Mark E. Dixon Wayne, PA

    3. Listees: The following website at http://www.pa-roots.com/eastpa/ has just added about 1000+ names of persons who died 1797-1824 and their names were reported in the Reading Adler Newspaper during that time.   Check out the site if you have anyone in your lines who died in the Berks County area or who had kinfolk who lived in the Reading area then. Some of the obits contained info for people who died outside Berks County. This site encompasses eastern PA area and is a good site to bookmark and check back periodically. Scroll down to the query box and search for your surnames.
