Hi Judy - I don't know anything about this family, but since at least some of them were apparently Moravians, you might like to look at this website, if you haven't; it has all sorts of Moravian links: http://www.enter.net/~smschlack/ Good luck! I am trying to find information on John Heinrich Miess, who lived in Lebanon or Berks County in the mid-1700's. His farm was across the Swatara Creek from Bethel Moravian Church, where the Swatara came through the Blue Mountains. He was probably Lutheran or Reformed. I found his son Thomas mentioned in a Lutheran Church record in Virginia. John Heinrich's wife's name was Anna Margaret, and they had 9 children. His daughter Elizabeth may have been the Elizabetha Miess married by Rev. Stoever to Captain Thomas Coppenhaver in 1778. That Elizabeth was of Bethel Township; Thomas Coppenhaver was of East Hanover Township. In 1761, he and his brother Christopher were massacred by Indians while plowing. His brother George lived where the Monroe Valley Country Club is now. George (actually his name was John George) was a member of Bethel Moravian. His son John George was also killed by Indians in 1756. I can find information on George in Bethel Township documents, but nothing on John Heinrich or his sons. Then Miess family immigrated from Prussia. There was also a Phillip Miess, who I'm told wasn't a brother of the other 3. Can anyone help me? Judy

Information about anyone named Krebs (or variations ) at Goshenhoppen will be appreciated. I search a number of Krebs families from the 1700's and will share information. Dick Creps
Hey everyone... Regarding those nasty viruses...I have an on-line subscription to McAfee.com. Best investment I ever made. I can clean my computer whenever I want, viruses are cleaned immediately. Anti-virus software continually goes out of date pretty fast, due to new viruses showing up all the time. When you're right on line with McAfee, it's always up to date. Check it out; I think it's worth the $29.95 a month. Personally I think that's a steal! In order to keep up with the software changes, you'd probably have to spend that every other month. Check out the Clinic. It has several features besides the virus scan. Hope you like it. I've never had to take my computer to the shop because of a virus. I sound like a tv commercial... Thanks Kathleen: You are fortunate in that you are able to take your machine to the shop. We had ours built in Dec. 1998 to our specifications by a local professional builder. It is a Pentium II (the highest at that time), 450 MHz, Cisco 675 high speed modem, 365 RAM, 9.l Hard disk, 3 1/2, 5 1/4, 44X Max CD-ROM, a HP CD-Writer Plus 8100 series drives. The hard disk has a twin fan infront of it to keep it cool, and the bottom of the 2 foot high x 18 inches deep tower also as a stronger set to keep the mothe board cool. That is just to tell you why our tower is so big, that we cannot manhandle it and need to have the computer technician come in. On that Jan 1, 2001 when Margaret got that virus, it shut down the computer, and it was the first time that our techs had heard of it, that is why the owner and his best tech came out. I thought they should have paid us to learn how to fix it when others in our area got it. This virus is contained in the body of an incoming e-mail, and you cannot tell that it is there until you download the incoming e-mail which in this case was from a known correspondent. When we told him about it, it had also infected him and also spread itself to all in his mailing list. NOTE: We do not have a mailing list on our hard disk, we keep a written one in an address book for that purpose. Thanks again for your reply. Al and Margaret, Thank you folks for the attention and the advice. Kathleen
Hello Teresa, Thank you for your information. We are talking about two different men of the same name. My John Fox appeared in KY in 1799. He married 1) Betsy Robertson, dau of William Robertson. I have the line on down for anyone who is interested. Shirley
Hello: Kathleen: While I was in the hospital on Jan. 1,2001, Margaret got this virus. The same results that you are talking about. She had to call in PConCall the local PC technicians (they have 20 techs on the road each day, half for business and half for privat problems. When she called them, the responded immediately, although it usually takes a week or so before they can take care of you. The head of the organization showed up with his senior tech, and they worked on it for three hours. It is a virus that was put out last year with a opening date of Jan 1, 2001. It destroyed our McAfree Virus program, and they had to install a new improved one. They did get it out of every nook and crany where this "worm" had buried into it. The only part that was not pleasant is their fee is $79.95 plus sales tax for each half hour. Suggest you get a good computer tech immediatelly, because you won't be able to eradicate it yourself. Hi list, I just join this list not to long ago. Looking for any information on Wendel Wiant from Montgomery Co, Pa. And information on the New Goshenhoppen Reformed Church. Wendel Wiandt last name can be spelled about 40 different ways. Wiant, Wyant, Wyandt, Wiandt and so on. Also have found the name to be spelled Wigand and all the different ways like Wygandt, Wigandt and so on. This is how hard it is to find information on the right Wiandt family line. And to top it off most of their first names are Johannes. Will enough on that. I'm looking for a Wendel Wiant who was a member of the New Goshenhoppen Reformed Church in Montgomery Co, Pa. The information I have is Wendel Wiant was born July 14, 1709 in Freinsheim, Palatinate, (Germany) came to America in 1729 on the Mortonhouse. Wendel died June 22, 1787 in Montgomery Co, Pa. He was married to Ann Margaret Fischer 1730 in Pa. Any information on Wenel would be very helpful. Also trying to locate information on his son Jacob Wiant. He was born around 1740 in Pa. Jacob moved to Ohio in 1806 and died in 1809. Is there anyone working on this Wiant family line? Or any Wiandt, Wiant, Wyant family line? Hello, I'm new to the list as of this past week. I noted with interest a reference to Hans MAYER. Can you tell me more about him? I have MAYER/MEYERs from Germany , one being Johannes Hans MEYER who married his 2nd wife, Anna Maria Essel in Tulpechocken Twp., Berks Co., PA on Jan. 8,1746. One of their daughters, Maria Catherine MAYER, married my ancestor, Henrich Erasmus DEISSINGER. Maria Catherine was born after 1748 and died in 1766 in TulpechockenTwp. Berks Co. PA. Johannes Hans MEYER's father was Michael MEYER and his mother was Anna (Mrs.) MEYER. Other children born to Michael and Anna (Mrs.) were: Anna Barbara MEYER, Georg MEYER, and Heinrich MAYER. Thanks for any information you might have. M.J. Lindemann
