Then you can select them one by one and click the 'Delete' button at the top of that, and they will be *gone*. You will not have them after that - though you may have the mail to which they were attached - the virus thing has been *removed* and that mail is now harmless but since it is also meaningless you may as well delete that too, in your mail program. 3. --============_-1221630869==_ma============ Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" ; format="flowed" First of all this W32.Badtrans.13312@mm has nothing to do with any list held at Rootsweb. You are receiving a reply to your post to this list by another subscriber who has "caught" this bug. It's an annoying little worm that replies to your unread e-mails and attaches itself for propagation purposes. It appears as if the person you wrote is replying to your post since the subject is "RE: [whatever the subject was]. What will tip you off is that the message you sent is only partially quoted AND at the bottom is the statement: > Take a look to the attachment. The attachment can be any number of these files: Pics.ZIP.scr, images.pif, README.TXT.pif, New_Napster_Site.DOC.scr, news_doc.scr, hamster.ZIP.scr, YOU_are_FAT!.TXT.pif, searchURL.scr, SETUP.pif, Card.pif, Me_nude.AVI.pif, Sorry_about_yesterday.DOC.pif, s3msong.MP3.pif, docs.scr, Humor.TXT.pif, fun.pif Whatever you do DO NOT even attempt to open these attachments!!! If you have, you have infected yourself and you must clean your system of all infected files. A good site to visit is: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.badtrans.13312@mm.html the Symantec (Norton Antivirus) site. They give tips on how to eradicate your system of this worm. Don't be embarrassed if you did open the attachment and infected your system. Just clean it up and use your anti-virus software regularly - and make sure you have the most recent update! If someone sends you a message telling you what they've received and that you have this worm, believe them. You won't know unless someone receives one of your "replies". Some good guidelines for use of e-mail are: 1. Don't open attachments from people you don't know. 2. Don't open attachments you don't expect. It may be from someone you know but it isn't something they intended to send. 3. Run some good virus software - Norton or McAfee - all the time. 2. Speaking of Diehl .... My ancestor Anna Margarethe Diehl (or Thiel) was born abt. 1684, Flonheim, married Johann Philip Wendel of Framersheim, and came to the Germanna Colony in Virginia with one of her sons, about 1732, where she died. I've often wondered whether and how the Diehls who came to Pennsylvania in the 1700s may have been related to her. I'd love to hear from anyone with a theory.
