I would like to congratulate the submitter of this wonderful material... I have been gone (been in Berks Co PA)... during some of this and everyone has been so cordial in sending me the missing parts.. My niece (house setting) used my computer while I was gone, and some things apparently were opened and went away during all of this... ... What were the chapters sent out? 1-15?? Or was there an ending too... sure don't want to miss any.. it's great..... I am printing it off to keep.. CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN!! EllieSS@aol.com
Carl.. I suspect that what you are calling "Ruscoman" Township may be RUSCOMBMANOR Township. I can certainly understand why someone would try to abbreviate that! <<grin>> According to "Pennsylvania Line", Ruscombmanor Township is a part of Berks County located to the northeast of the City of Reading. Look on your map for the town of Pricetown. It's one of the towns located within Ruscombmanor Township. Jane.. ><< Volume I of Pennsylvania German Pioneers by > Strassburger and Hinke, >> If you are interested in purchasing it try Hearthstone Books at: <http://www.hearthstonebooks.com/> But I think you may well opt to find it at your local Genealogical Library, as did I. There is a Ruscombmanor Twp. In Berks Co. Yes there is an 1810 Cenus. Sylvia --------------------- Forwarded message: From: CarlCEgolf@aol.com To: PENNA-DUTCH-L@rootsweb.com Date: 97-10-25 15:33:00 EDT 10-25-97 @ 1515 EDT Greetings All: Does anyone have access to the 1810 census record of Roscoman Twp., Berks County? I would appreciate the census details for HENRY EGOLD (EGOLF) allegedly listed on page 199. As I cannot find Roscoman Twp. in my Atlas, does it exist today? Or, was its name changed sometime after 1810. Are there any other Roscoman Twp. records available from the 1810 era, speciffically regarding HENRY EGOLD (EGOLF) ? Any inputs you can offer, will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Carl C. ==== PENNA-DUTCH Mailing List ==== Haven't found a post of interest? Just found out that my Great-grandfather, William Hynd of Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland was called "Yankee Bill" by his friends in Scotland because he made several trips back and forth from Scotland to the U.S. before he finally immigrated permanently to Pennsylvania. I was also told that he originally came to Pennsylvania because the "Summerville Mining Co." had advertised for coal miners in Scotland and he had responded to the ad. Anyone ever hear of this company? Family legend has it that he helped to rescue several people during the Johnstown Flood. Can anyone tell me any info on the Flood? What year did that happen?
