Thanks to everyone who answered my plea for help. Nora
I tried going into these ship list sites, and could not get in. Am I doing something wrong? Why not generate one of your own? Transcribed records get lots of appreciative readers. Or try a surname query you haven't posted in a while.

Hi, My ex sister-in-law is Marie (Blattenberger) Boring, Kennelley. Her family lived in and around Black Lick, Indiana County, Pa. She has lived in the Erie area probably 25 yrs or more. She had a brother Drape that died and a sister in Ind. This past year her brother Paul passed away in Erie. I believe her mother was an Acke from the Ind. Co. area. Does this ring a bell? Dottie Cote

Since I am new to the list I will publish the names I am working on and about which I have accumulated much genealogy and history. > My direct ancestor, Johann Jacob Hofheitz arrived in Philadelphia on the ship, Two Brothers, on September 23, 1751. His two brothers, Johann Daniel and Johann Adam came together in 1763. Jacob lived first in Bucks Co and then in Berks. I do not know where Daniel lived in PA, but he was married in Lancaster. Adam was probably in York Co in those days. > Jacob moved to Guilford Co. NC in the early 1770's and Daniel moved to the part of Surry Co which became Stokes Co. NC about the same time. Their descendants evolved their name to Huffines/Huffine. Adam remained in PA and his descendants took the name, Hoffein. They lived in York and Adams Counties. > I am particulariy interested in find the maiden name of Jacob's wife. Her given names are Mary Ann Elizabeth at the baptism of their first son in August 1956 in Bucks Co. >From the Durham Herald-Sun, today (7 Feb 1999) Moravian Town Named Landmark Winston-Salem -- Historic Bethabara, a Moravian settlement, has been designated a National Historic Landmark, the only one named this year in North Carolina... Old Salem Historic District, Salem Tavern and the Single Brothers' House are the other national landmarks in Winston-Salem. Moravians settled the site in 1753 as a temporary town. Bethabara continued on as a settlement even after the establishment of Salem and became a park in 1970, even as the city of Winston-Salem surrounded it. David, welcome back to this list! You waited a bit longer than I did to return. <g> Hope some of our new members to this list have additional information on this family. If anyone does please post it to the list as I would also be interested. Thanks! Joan
FYI from DON: >From Ancestral Quest: At this time we are asking all beta testers to be very dedicated in this last final go around. It is very important that you give Ancestral Quest another thorough test before we create a master for production.you can now start telling your family and friends about Ancestral Quest 3.0....There is no need to keep the lid on this any more. In fact there has been a great deal of excitement on many Internet news groups regarding the release of Ancestral Quest 3.0. We want to take advantage of this and get the word out regarding the strong features of AQ 3.0.
Just wanted to let everyone know that cgi.rootsweb.com is back up again and the GenConnect system is working. It wasn't RootsWeb's fault--it had to do with a pinched ethernet cable somewhere along the line (please don't ask me what *that* is <g>). Anyway it is fixed now. Joan
Thought I would pass this message from RootsWeb along to everyone. Joan Important News: CGI Down 6 Feb 1999 7:14am PST -- RootsWeb's CGI server is down, making GenConnect and Surname Helper temporarily unavailable. We're working to restore service as fast as possible -- thanks for your patience. -- Tim Pierce, senior system administrator
