    3. Thanks Hal, I will try that. Do you have the web site information for it, or is it on Cyndi's List? Thanks again. 1. [PENNA-DUTCH-L] Lizzie Bender, where are you??????
    2. hal blattenberger
    3. In my searching I have come across jillions of Benders and I cant believe there is'nt one who knows, heard of, is related to, or thinks they know of someone named Bender who married Daniel Webster Blattenberger ,both of whom lived in Rappho, Pa. With a surname like mine, it is'nt easy to not notice it if you have ever heard of it. I will be heartily thankful if anyone has any information at all and will forward it. thank you, Hal Blattenberger

    3. Have to share a success story with all PENNA-DUTCH-L & D subscribers: Has to do with Johnathan GRIEST b. 8 / 13 / 1793 York Co. PA. + Mary MORRIS b. 6 / 7 / 1785 Baltimore, MD. and one of their 9 daughters: Esther GRIEST b. 4 / 1 / 1814 York Co. PA. + Thomas Bradley ROTH b. 8 / 7 / 1810. These were my 3gr & 2gr-grandparents respectively. On 2-13-99 Vicki wrote: <<Hello Paul, I have lots of stuff on the Griest family. My original info which was compiled by one of my aunts, listed her as Esther GRIST...I received two look-up comfirmations of their marraige, but they stated she was Hester GRIST...so I've been looking since Mar. '98 for Hester GRIST. My cousin, Margaret BADER (Hi Margaret !), found (H)Esther's father, Johnathan GRIEST & Mary ?...but we didn't have sibs or parents of Johnathan. WOW ! NOW WE DO !!!! Faith [ Hi Cousin Faith ! ] ( [email protected] ) sent me info about Willing GRIEST but we couldn't connect him to Johnathan. 1. Re: [PENNA-DUTCH-L] Success story ! GRIEST-York Co. PA.
    2. Paul, I loved your RootsWeb success story--is it any wonder that RootsWeb is now in the top ten Websites in users remaining at their sites--of ALL the Websites on the Internet? If it didn't prove successful for people they wouldn't stick around and come back for further information. What is even better than that is that RootsWeb, unlike the other 9 sites in the top ten, is largely run by MANY volunteers each doing a small part--we ALL are RootsWeb. It is a grassroots example all of us can be proud to support. Hearing success stories such as yours encourages the rest of us to keep plugging away at our brick walls. I would like to ask your permission to repost your message to the Team- Rootsweb list where the folks just love to hear success stories--let me know if this is OK with you. I won't repost the message without your permission. Thanks! Joan

    3. Is anyone else getting junk mail from someone at AOL? I belong to a number of lists and just recently began getting junk mail on a daily basis, almost, and it's always an AOL name. And, if there are any AOL members out there that know how I can contact AOL about this I'd appreciate it. I know they have some pretty strict rules about spamming and advertising (I think). I have no idea how this person got my name, I'm assuming it was from a mailing list but I have no idea which one. Thanks, Beth

Joan; I am sending this to you privately. If they send you a header like you asked I would be very much interested in learning how to read the headers at the same time. I am pretty much self taught on the computer and the Internet and don't have many opportunities to have someone teach me something new. Besides I too receive mail that says the header is faked and would like to know how to handle it. Thank You; Bob Loshbaugh [email protected]

There is a little confusion over who she was married to. The children were born in Westmoreland County, PA. Any help with Louise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jean

It really has nothing to do with RootsWeb and they have filters in place to stop spam from reaching the lists. There are many ways that all of us get our e-mail addresses on spammers' lists. The addresses you are reporting the spam to are forged addressed which is why the mail is bouncing. If you can send me a copy of the full headers from one of the spams I will try to explain to you where and how to report it if I can. I need the full headers though--and don't send it all--just one--I have enough of my own thanks. Joan

    2. Thought this might interest all of you. It isn't just our imagination that interest in genealogy is picking up on the Internet. These were the top 10 in December. 1) gamesville.com 246 min/month 2) ebay.com 126 min/month 3) moneycentral.msn.com 66 min/month 4) yahoo.com 60 min/month 5) hotmail.com 57 min/month 6) netaddress.com 44 min/month 7) uproar.com 40 min/month 8) www.schwab.com 37 min/month 9) www.etrade.com 37 min.com 10) rootsweb.com 36 min/month It's about time RootsWeb has gotten the recognition it deserves and all who are contributing deserve some credit!!
