    2. In a message dated 99-03-10 10:03:22 EST, you write: > I'm sorry to bother this list with this kind of problems, but I again > received unwanted mail from an AOL address. I sent it back to them but it > bounced. What do I do now? I know there are people to report this to but I > don't know who they are. Can someone please email me personally with answers? > Connie, I will reply once to the list and that way hopefully prevent a flood of mail on this topic which really doesn't belonf on this list. I know the situation is troubling and I agree that this has become an increasingly annoying problem. When you get "spam" from an AOL address send it to: [email protected] They do take action on the mail that is forwarded to this address. Joan

    2. Hi. Sorry to butt in. I haven't been following this discussion closely at all. If people are talking about PA dutch who settled along the monocacy in Frederick county and Washington Co, MD, I am from the area. I do know there are Bactell's Barkdolls, in the area. Many. I have cemetery records from Washington County ,MD. with these names in them. Also some Franklin County biographical. My Washington County books are on loan at the moment but they are to be returned soon. Please let me know if you are looking for a specific person or line. Yvonne Wyrick [email protected]

They settled on Carroll Creek near the MONOCACY and established > the town of Frederick. More families followed. Looking for any > information on these early settlers. Also what is the MONOCACY of that > time period? The Monocacy River area in Maryland was a picturesque, rich farmland region at the foot of Catoctin Mountain. Read _Pioneers of Old Monocacy_ by Tracey and Dern. In the time period of 1735, the area of the Monocacy Hundred extended from the mouth of the Monocacy River north to Pennsylvania, east to part of now Carroll County, MD, and all of now western MD. The area was particularly appealing to your group of pious Germans who settled along the German Monocacy Road, a path of German migration from Pennsylvania to Virginia. Some surnames of early German settlers in the region include Bachdold, Staley, Shoup, Getzendanner, Swinehart, Kemp, Fout, Stull, Lehnert, Shaver, Trout, Spuch, Ambrose, Chydler, Weller, Reisner, Bonnet, Wetzel, Baer, Manser, Barrick, Verdriess, and Gump. 3. Think I can help - whenever you receive this junk - spam - or whatever which comes unsolicited through the e-mails and you don't want to be bothered anymore: go into your mail program - in IE, it's under TOOLS - in Netscape, ditto - there is an internet option which allows you to send mail whereever you wish it to go when it's downloaded from the server; for ex. I have each of my query lists going to a separate file in my mail folder. All the junk - and spam - I receive once then copy this return address into this option's 'from' slot - you can choose to not download from server, you can choose to delete from server or other options - I like the one where the message is forwarded back to them; in this way, I hope to mess up their systems so they won't be able to bother anyone with this junk again; my way of feeling as if I'm getting some revenge. >Is anyone else getting junk mail from someone at AOL? I belong to a >number of lists and just recently began getting junk mail on a daily >basis, almost, and it's always an AOL name. And, if there are any AOL >members out there that know how I can contact AOL about this I'd >appreciate it. I know they have some pretty strict rules about spamming >and advertising (I think). I have no idea how this person got my name, >I'm assuming it was from a mailing list but I have no idea which one. > hope this helps - if I've not made myself clear, let me know and I'll be happy to try to help further - anne-ology [email protected] http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Fields/8379/index.html

They settled on Carroll Creek near the MONOCACY and established the town of Frederick. More families followed. Looking for any information on these early settlers. Also what is the MONOCACY of that time period? Any help as always much appreciated. bob e
