To all: If any of you have put together family books that you are selling, I would be happy to reference those on our website with your email address and/or address and/or whatever information within reason that you would like to explain your book. Just send me privately and I will get it online as soon as possible. One note, the family must be of Pennsylvania Dutch origin. I will place them in a Privately Published Family Books section (yet to be placed online) on the Pennsylvania Dutch Family History site at: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~padutch/ Thanks! Don
Thank you for the info on the names. It does help a little, to at least have some idea. I think I will go to library today and see what they have to offer in the way of books with surname meanings. KB
Nora, Have you been in contact with George Lint of Niceville. FL? He heads the LINT family research group and has amassed much information on the LINTs and related families. His e-mail address is [email protected] If you are using Family Tree Maker, you can obtain a file from George that contains the collective efforts of many LINT family researchers (and there are a bunch of us!). The family that you seek is documented in that collection. It looks like your Rosa Ann (as the name is shown in my records) who married John Peter Hay is a niece of my 2nd great grandmother, Catherine (Katie) LINT Sanner, wife of Ludwig SANNER. Katie and her brother,Conrad J., father of Rosa Ann, were the children of John LINT and Elizabeth WALTERS. I know nothing more on the WALTERS line but have the LINT family back to their beginnings in this country. Mary Powell [email protected]
In a message dated 99-03-19 14:51:55 EST, you write: > Could anyone tell me whether these names are PA Dutch and what they mean. > They are names I am researching and so far I haven't been able to come up > with > the meaning of the surname. Maybe I am not looking in the right place. I > have been told by family that we are PA Dutch. Kathy, I would say they CAN be--not necessarily that they ARE. Redman can be English Quaker--we had a large family in early West Jersey Quaker records named Redman. However, there is also a Hans Redman listed in Strassburger and Hinke ship lists, Pa. German Pioneers, vol. 1, page 395-arrived in Phila. 2 Sept. 1749 on the Ship Albany. I find no Mounts/z but there could be other alternate spellings. I find a Gottfried Zepernick in vol. 1, page 740-arrived 29 Dec. 1772 in Phila. on the Ship Minerva. Joan
This isn't mine I'm just forwarding it: <<I received this from another rootsweb list and thought I would forward it to the Andersons. Recently a listmember posted a brief note about the LDS site, and I responded back to him personnally that another list had been batting around a lot of rumors about the site, even one about it actually being a commercial site, playing off the LDS reputation. I'm afraid that I may have offended him, but only meant to pass on to him what I had seen on another list. But, as I pull crow feathers from my teeth, I forward this on knowing it will be good news to all of us: ------------------------- Hello Fellow Researchers, I have been bombarded with questions on the Family Search Website and would like to pass on to you the information I received when I spoke to an "Official" Church spokesperson at Family Search. He advised me of the following: The OFFICIAL LDS Church website is LDS.ORG Go to media resources and find News update. The church is posting updates as they come in as to the state of the family search. Within 3 or 4 minutes of the NEWS UPDATE ANNOUNCING the FAMILY SEARCH is online. They will post it THERE! SO Keep checking. Should be a couple of days. It will be a MASSIVE SITE. They are prepared to test this site using anyone who wishes to go to it and use it. THERE WILL BE NO PASSWORD TO ACCESS IT. The rumor about the password was incorrect. When the site was put up it was restricted to a few....about 100 people who designed it and are putting the finishing touches on it, someone there LEAKED, YES LEAKED, (AN EMPLOYEE) and that is why some of you got in. When the masses bombarded the site it crashed cause it was not finished. They have now given each worker an INDIVIDUAL PASSWORD, SOOOOO IF it gets leaked again they will know who did it. It has been postponed being put online a few days because of the crash. There are now about 12 popular stories going around about Family Search. I ASSURE YOU MINE CAME FROM A CHURCH SPOKESMAN. IF you pass information about the site on to others please just send them this message I have sent you. The whole message. Now please remember this. 1. Go to LDS.org 2. Find Media Resources 3. Check News Updates That will inform you when it is going online. Please notify everyone you know who will be interested. I hope this helps you all. You have my permission to pass this note on to any Genealogy Lists you wish. Again, Please pass the whole note not just sections of it or we will have more rumors. Thanks, Karen Gaughan in Pa. [email protected]>>
Could anyone tell me whether these names are PA Dutch and what they mean. They are names I am researching and so far I haven't been able to come up with the meaning of the surname. Maybe I am not looking in the right place. I have been told by family that we are PA Dutch. Thank you, Kathy Baus
Seeking information on the John Peter Hay and Rosanna Lint of Pennsylvania. Their son Conrad Hay was born 10 May, 1854 in Summerset County, Pennsylvania. He married Susanna Boarts in January, 1875 in Berlin, Pennsylvania. Can anyone help me? Nora [email protected]
awn"????? How about "yon"?????
To ALL: I am deeply sorry that I must send the following but we have had some problems as of late that need to be corrected. The archives are for the private use of our members for personal research. Copies of these email are not to be sent thither and yawn to anybody at any time without the permission of the sender. We have had some people abusing the archives of late and causing problems by sending copies to people and having them taken out of context. This has caused some very sore feelings. One of the rules of these lists is that we will be civil and considerate of others. May I please remind you of this guideline. If you follow that, we should have no problems. Please don't make me do anymore than this warning. Please get along! Thanks! Don Hartman PADUTCHgenONLY list moderator PENNA-DUTCH list moderator
The Lds site requires a password, so that they won't get swamped and it is for the upper crust I'm sure, who ever they are.

Hello, I am new to this list. Is anyone researching CRANEs and would have a Wesley CRANE in their database? He married Sadie LAMOREUX in Luz. Co. Family tradition says these CRANEs were PA Dutch, but we have no proof. If anyone recognizes these people, please contact me. TIA Barbara
