If you have access to the Family Tree Maker World Family Tree CD, Vol. 4--my tree is on there that includes the early Owen line--if you don't have access to that CD let me know. I am not sure whether your Owen line would have been Quaker in the 1790s or later--but I am virtually certain they were when they arrived. There are some books you might try to locate at a library near you that give some information on the early Owen--some of it is accurate and some isn't but it is a good place to start. If you can locate the book "Shull, Stockton, Burdsall, and Allied Families" by Rena Shull McCahon she has a good section on the Owen lines. You might do better at locating: "Merion in the Welsh Tract" and "The Welsh Founders of PA" I don't have the info on the authors handy right now, but one of the authors is Glenn and the other is Browning. Joan
Oh, Joan (what's your surname?)!! You're the FIRST-EVER response I've had that even looks promising!! I guess I can't help you too much. I was always told that Evan was Welsh; the folks always said that's where our darker coloring probably came from. As to his being Quaker, I don't know. My track on him picks up in Miami Co., OH, where he farmed. I've pretty good info on the family (except for Margaret's maiden name) from Ohio on. The son, Franklin J., was my great-grandfather, and he's quite a story, having divorced a wife in PA (child ?Franny? wound up with a Keihl family), disappeared for a number of years, served in the Civil war, later married my great-grandmother in Ohio. As to info on Evan, Margaret and the PA-born children prior to their arrival in Ohio, I haven't a clue at this point. When you've time, would you mind sharing your data on the earlier Owen family you mentioned? We're planning a driving trip east in a bit to visit my family-origins locales in 7 states. We'll be in Lancaster Co., probably not much time for research on this trip (it's mainly for look-see-photo), but any info I can have along will be handy. I'll naturally reimburse any costs involved in providing such data!! This at least gives me some hope that there MAY be linkage to be found. Dave Ross 2771 S. Yates Denver, CO 80236-2018

Hi Dave- might your Evan Owen have been of Welsh Quaker descent? I strongly suspect he is part of my Welsh Owen line who settled in the Welsh Tract in what is now Montgomery County, PA in the 1680s. I don't know the line of descent to your Evan Owen but I do find an earlier Evan Owen born to Robert and Rebecca Owen in 1681 in the records of Lower Merion Friends Meeting. Without looking back at my files I believe Robert Owen may have been the brother to my Joshua Owen. The family was from Merionethshire, Wales and was of royal descent traceable back to Charlemagne. I'm searching for any kind of information on my maternal g, grandfather William Lubert of South Carolina. He had three daughters I know of, my grandmother Margaret DeLacy, Carrie or Caroline and Mary ( Mamie). He was a plantation owner and lost everything during the Civil War. If anyone has any kind of input, my gratitude would be unbounded. HalBlattenberger, [email protected]

Of many LIBEY families that follow, I have more info than I have listed and will gladly share and am interested in any info I can obtain (descending or ascending) -- particularly in info on the William and Elizabeth ? LIBEY family. They had several children in Richland County during 1830s/1840s. According to family history (I have all spouses/offspring for many generations), William was born in PA in 1816 (Cumberland Co? or Perry?) and died in DeKalb Co., IN in 1849. William and Elizabeth had the following children: Margaret (Peggy) LIBEY b: 1835 OH; George E. LIBEY b: 1838, Richland Co., OH; David D. Not listed is Margaret LIBEY who married George LIBEY in PA - they moved to MI , near her relatives, in the 1850s (also have much info on their offspring....). Another (probably related) LIBEY (extended) family can be found travelling in the same counties at the same times. George LIBEY b: 1786 in PA married Margretta ? b: 1792. They had the following children: William b: ABT1813, Maria b; ABT1814, John L. b: ABT1816, Margaret E. b: ABT 1817, Jacob S. b: ABT1818, and Isabelle b: 1828. Dear Hal, Thank you for writing and wanting to help me with my Kurtz research. The girl you mentioned "Laurie Kurtz" from California is not a familiar name to me. Since I have just learned that Elias Kurtz left his first family and moved to California and remarried and then died in Oregon leaves me with just that information. Now I need to work backwards. I am keeping a copy of your email and if I come across the name Laurie Kurtz I will get back to you. I do thank you again for your help. I hope you are enjoying your weekend. "God Bless," Lisa
Hi Lisa, I used to go with a girl named Laurie Kurtz. I knew her family well. They did, and probably still do, live in Huntington Beach, Orange Co., California.. If this is a match or your interested, I could probably dig up some contact information. Hi, I am hoping that someone recognizes this family and is able to help me. Ida C. ZEHRING, born 1-25-1867 in Montgomery County, Ohio was the daughter of Henry B. ZEHRING and Lucetta PARTHEMORE. Ida married Elmer SHREINER (Shriner) and they had one son named Leroy. I have been told that they left Ohio and moved to Reading, PA. I sure would like to know about this family and would like to hear from anyone that might have some information. Thank You, Lisa
