Dear Niki, Please keep me on your list of people hunting the name Fryburger, Freiburger in relation to a Jewish connection in Penn. They later turned into Lutherans I think, but I am constantly hunting this name. They arrived here in the 18th century I think. Thanks Ginger in AZ
I am in the process of breaking apart my genealogy section to make it easier to navigate and find information. I am looking for new links for Pennsylvania Genealogy, Jewish Genealogy, surname pages with links to PA, as well as for my other pages. If you have any you would like considered for listing, please stop by and see if it is there. If not, please send me the url. I am also listing Family Associations and Family Reunions. If you want listed, please check out the format and then send me the information. You can get to my genealogy site through my homepage American Experience and Beyond http://home.ptd.net/~nikki. This site is far from done so forgive the dust! Thanks. Nikki nikki@ptdprolog.net

Chester County Genealogy: The Source for Family Roots in Chester Co., PA Address:http://www.rootsweb.com/~pacheste/chester.htm Diana
Hi, I happen to live in Chester Co., PA; only about 15 mins. from the historical society. Unfortunately, they do not have any type of early birth records. What one might be able to locate is a baptismal record which would include the DOB. Below is a summary of the information available there taken from their brochure. Newspaper Clippings File: Contains articles clipped from CC newspapers c1810-1960. Divided into 3 sections: Family Surname (inc. obits, weddings, etc...); Chester Co (alpha. by subject); Township (alpha. by twp. and then heading--incl. clippings re: businesses, real estate, history, schools, etc..). Chester Co. Histories: History of CC, PA; A History of CC, PA; Bio. & Portraits Cyc. of CC, PA; Chester Co. & It's People. Published Genealogies: Inc. 3-ring notebooks of gen. research as well as soft-cover genealogical publications. Family Envelopes: Collection of family info., filed alphabetically. Card Catalog: Manuscript materials, letters, diaries, & other family papers, incl. a collection of Family Files (various material, incl. bible records & genealogical material compiled by others). Will Abstracts: 1714-1844; handwritten abstracts of wills/admin. Original wills are located at Chester Co. Archives. Census: 1790-1920 Chester Co., PA on microfilm. Church/Cemetery records: various church/cemetery records located in both open stack and closed stack area. I also have a pamphlet of what materials are located at the Chester Co. Archives if anyone is interested. It is basically where all the "historic government records of Chester Co." are kept. IE. wills, OC, Deed Books, Birth/Death (1852-55 & 1893-1906) Marriages 1852-55; 1885-1930.... Cathy

Good luck, Betty I have looked at several Chester Co. Pa. sites and they do not have birth and death records before 1825. I'm looking for some church sites in Chester County in the German Reform Church. Have not found any as of yet. Barbara
I would be interested, too. Betty I have Jacob Hummel b 1776 Chester Co. Does anyone know if Chester Co. Pa. have a web site of its own? If so would you let me know? I need some early birth and marriage records. Thanks Barbara
Searching for a marriage record or anything on John Perrigan and Charity Gross born in Pa. around 1790. If anyone has resources with these names in it would you please share with me? They are my 5th great grand parents, and I know so little about them. Anything would be appreciated. Many Thanks. ( spelled Paragan, Perrigin, spelled lots of ways). Connie
Does anyone know if Hughes can be a German or PA Dutch name? I have a Christian Hughes who married a Martha Bricker. Seems unlikely that in the early 1800's she would marry outside her church. Christian Hughes seems somewhat Germanic to me..with names. Named a son Jacob and a son Christopher. What do you think? Sue
Most of the Hughes in Berks County area where I grew up were Lutheran. My grandmother Katie Hoppman married an Earl Hughes in this area. Bricker is also a common name in Berks and Lancaster County and yes they can both be Penna Dutch as was the case with Earl Hughes. I think there is a Penna Dutch Roots site on the web. I know I have seen it before. Respectfully Carole Vitale Fairbanks, Alaska Collins30038@aol.com wrote: > Does anyone know if Hughes can be a German or PA Dutch name? Anyone with a 1900 Montgomery Co. census? Could you look for a Jacob Shimer with wife Barbara and son Horatio Shimer ? Horatio is my grandfather. He is in the 1910 census with a wife Annie (Fannie) and several children. I could not find him in the Conshohocken census of 1880 when he would have been a child. Any help greatly appreciated. If you are still doing look ups, I could use some help. I am searching for the immigrant that came over to the USA, supposedly through Philadelphia. John Christy(Christie) or (Christen) (Krist) (Crist) landed in Lancaster County. b 1706 d 1790. Records show his son John, (Hans) purchased land in Antrim township, in Franklin county Pennsylvania in 1791. List of descendants of Swiss Mennonite settlers from England or Switzerland, who reached Lancaster county between 1717 and 1720. He owned a mill on Conestoga River in 1750 and his oldest son was baptized in 1742. His wife was Anna Schultz Kreider or Nancy. He had 3 wives , others were Anna Susan Spanhauer, and Marie Goss Bersinger. Am trying to determine what country he was from. Thank you. Rosie Christy rchristy@npwt.net
