Ron, No I don't know where the name Standing came from - the earliest record I have is for Standing PENNIFOLD b.1778 in Worth, Sussex, son of Thomas PENNYFOLD and Elizabeth HALL. I imagine it's the surname of a female relative, possibly through his mother's family, but I haven't yet made a connection. Luckily the name has been used at least once in every generation since then, so it makes researching a little easier! Incidentally, the name is still in use today as my mother has a living cousin called William Standing PENFOLD. Just out of interest, was there anything worthwhile in that record of S.G. PENFOLD, or was it just his name in an index? Linda North Somerset, England linda@lindanet.co.uk Family tree at: http://www.lindanet.co.uk > Linda, > Thanks for the reply.
