HI Carol Thanks for your message. Will keep on looking. FYI:I was looking at a websit for Wingham www.wingham.org.uk which has a PENFOLD Travelling Fair mention in its History page/Flower Show as follows: Extract from The Kent Herald, September 26, 1839 ......The Flower Show took place in the large field on the left hand side of the Canterbury Road, on the far side of the railway embankment. On the day previous to the Show, the Dover Marquee Company would erect the large marquee for the exhibits, smaller marquees for refreshments, and, of course, the Beer Tent. Penfold's Travelling Fair provided entertainment with swings, roundabouts and games of chance. Probably not of very much help to anyone but you never know regards Michelle www.friendsreunited.co.uk ----Original Message Follows---- From: MKCBATTS@aol.com Reply-To: PENFOLD-L@rootsweb.com To: PENFOLD-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [Penfold] (no subject) Date: Mon, 24 Feb 2003 08:16:56 EST Hi Michelle Not sure I'm going to be much help, I only have names no dates passed onto me by the granddaughter of the Fairground owner, William Penfold 1891 -1961 he married Sophy Hughes. His Brother Jack was married to Emma Aldridge, they had Elizabeth, Joseph and James possibly more. James m Jane Hughs - had Voilet, James, Jane, Samuel, Mary, John, Ada, and Margaret. Joseph m ? and they had Daisy and Joan. Ive not come across any Bickers. Hope you have better luck at finding a connection than I have. My Penfolds are Lydd Folkestone Canterbury, Staplehurst and Cranbrook areas, the names you mention haven't rung any bells, but will keep your email to hand perhaps we are both looking for the same connection. regards Carol ==== PENFOLD Mailing List ==== Researching: Penfold, Pennifold, Penford and other variants Email addresses subscribed to list: 148 Penfold Resource Website: http://member.telpacific.com.au/kylee/penfold_genealogy/ ============================== To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 _________________________________________________________________ Stay in touch with MSN Messenger http://messenger.msn.co.uk
