    3. Hello Carol I have been on this list for a while, although not active as I am concentrating my efforts on my BICKER family. I saw your message below and would be interested in receiving more info from you. For your info my PENFOLD family are from Ashford, Aldingon, Addisham area of Kent and my BICKER family are from WINGHAM, Kent (back to 1800's so far). From family history passed down I understand that a PENFOLD ancestor married a BICKER relative from WINGHAM prior to my grandparents marriage, although I have been unable to verify any info. Also my grandfather (deceased) used to tell how the family were related to a fairground/circus. Somewhere I have the contact number for a relative of the PENFOLDS who still do the fair at Hampstead, London each spring (which i visit every year amused that it could be part of my heritage!). I also have some jpeg images which were sent to me by Sheffield University. Again i have a contact name at the uni and will try to dig it out for you if it is of any use Finally, my grandfather, when driving into London from Kent, would allways point out the PENFOLD garages as belonging to relatives - wishful thinking perhaps? Again none of this is verified in any way whatsoever My basic PENFOLD family are: Isaac Penfold (my gggrandfather), his children were; Sydney James penfold: (my ggrandfather) b. feb 1902 in Aldington/Addisham married to Nelly Matilda Barnes @ Bridge registry office 1931. Nell Bicker: married to ?? Hadlow. Son no 2 name not known but belived to have emigrated to Canada. Sydney's son was Kenneth James Isaac Penfold (my grandfather) married to Eileen Bicker. Their surname was changed by deedpoll sometime in the early 1970's to Isaacs. Nells children were Robert Hadlow m to Queenie. Charlie Hadlow m to Floss Barnes ----- Original Message ----- From: <MKCBATTS@aol.com> To: <penfold-l@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, February 21, 2003 1:43 PM Subject: (no subject) > Hi KittyUK > > Does your Jack Penfold come from or lived in the Wingham area of Kent, I know > of a Jack Penfold that had a brother William that owned a fairgound and > believe my Penfolds have a connection with this fair. > regards > Carol Batts > > ==== PENFOLD Mailing List ==== Researching: Penfold, Pennifold, Penford and other variants Email addresses subscribed to list: 143 Penfold Resource Website: http://member.telpacific.com.au/kylee/penfold_genealogy/ ============================== To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237 _________________________________________________________________ Stay in touch with absent friends - get MSN Messenger http://messenger.msn.co.uk
