Hi Carol, Doinnng went my bell at the mention of Penfold and Cranbrook, Kent. My wife's gggrandfather was Walter Penfold, b 13/5/1827 in Cranbrook, m Martha Pierce of Newhaven. I have Walter down as a possible son of Thomas b c 1808 who married Mary Hards in Newhaven 7/6/1825, but that's where the line stops so far. If you see any connections I'd be glad to hear of them..
