No 2 David PENFOLD arrived in Sydney on 9 Dec 1836 on the ship BENGAL MERCHANT (Master William Campbell) (3rd trip) David was convicted for horse stealing at the Suffolk Quarter Sessions on 27 June 1836 and sentenced to life imprisonment.He had no previous convictions He was a shepherd and his native place was NORWICH.He was 5'4"tall with a sallow and pock-pitted complexion. He had dark brown hair and brown eyes.His left leg was short and was consequentially lame.He had a woman tattooed on his inside right arm and D4PS on his inside left arm (Convict Fiche 719 Page 183) David was 22 years old when convicted,could read and write and was a protestant. Charles PENFOLD arrived inSydney on 9 July 1837 on the ship MANGLES (Master William Carr) (7th trip) having been convicted for stealing a watch at the Surrey Quarter sessions on 28 June 1836.He was sentenced to 7 years and had no previous convictions.Charles could dread and write and was a protestant from Surrey.He was single.5ft' 4 1/2 " tall with a ruddy and freckled complexion,brown hair and grey eyes.His nose inclined a little towards the right side and he had moles on the left side of the throat and the right side of the jaw.He had a small burn mark on the inside lower left arm and a C tattooed on the back of the left hand (Convict Fiche 727 Page 089) John PENFOLD landed in Queensland about 1857.He lived in Queensland for 4 years and then went to NSW.He died ,still single,in Scone on 25 Feb 1897 from a self-inflicted throat wound in the throat.He was a labourer.He was born in EPSOM,England about 1839. His parents were GEORGE PENFOLD (a labourer) and JEMIMA PENFOLD nee STONE (NSW Death Register No 2772 That's it for now Louise
