Hi Listers I am searching for the marriage records and/or further information relating to the brothers Ambrose and James Penfold, and would be very grateful for any help anyone could give me. They were both born at Ifield, Sussex - Ambrose abt. 1833, James abt. 1836, both baptised at Crawley, Sussex. Ambrose was married to Ann LUCAS, and they lived for a while at Lewisham before settling in Bexley, Kent. Brother James was visiting the family at Bexley at the time of the 1881 Census but I have no further information relating to him. Known children of Ambrose & Ann Penfold, nee. Lucas, were .... Mark Penfold - had daughter's Marie and Vera Frank Penfold - had son's Frank and John Penfold Jane Penfold - married ? PARSONS Emma Penfold - married ? SEARLE Rose Penfold - married ? Hi Joan My wife (whose name, incidentally, is Joan) is descended from PENFOLDs from Ifield; I have all the BDMs for Ifield - but Ambrose and James don't seem to be there. I also have the Census entries for all PENFOLDs in Ifield and there is a family in 1841 that would appear to be yours: Near Lowfield Heath: Edward 35 Ag.Lab Elizabeth 35 Edward 11 Ambrose 7 James 5 Eli 11mths I believe this family is also connected to Julie Martin - julie@housemartin.f9.co.uk - if you would like to contact her.
