Hi everyone, Some of you will have read this post last year, but due to moving and other circumstances I have lost any contacts I had made. My name is Leigh Richardson, and I'm from Australia. I am trying to track information on my grandfather Albert Victor Foord of Sussex. His parents were Sarah Reynolds and John Foord (greengrocer). Albert Victor was born in 1889, married in 1911. John Foord and Sarah Reynolds also had a son George, daughters Dorothy, Beatrice, and Gladys. Albert Victor was a cousin of Ben Foord the South African boxer of the 1930's/1940's. Apparently that side immigrated from Sussex to South Africa. Albert Victor married Rose Penfold of Rye, and migrated to Australia in 1911.They were married at the Church of All Saints Estani by William Somerville. Certificate number: 226. His address at time of marriage was: 7 Seaford Lane Eastborne I know when he was young he was in the Merchant navy ( I think that is what it is called ) and later served in the English Navy. When he came to Australia he then joined the Australian Navy. Unfortunately this is all of the information I have available, and my uncle who may have provided more info passed on early in the year. Hello Leigh, I have a Rosa Penfold, Christened 26.04.1870 in Sussex. She is the daughter of Abraham and Elizabeth (nee Stoner) Penfold, and in the 1881 census of Henfield, Sussex, states that Rosa was 11 years old and was born in Woodmancote, Sussex. I have no idea what happened to her yet, wether she married etc. (busy chasing other lines) or if she ties in with your 'Rose'. Are there any witnesses on the marriage cert. that may give a tie into brothers, sisters and parents.. If you think there is a link do get back to me.
