The information given made take a fresh look at data I have: Charles PENFOLD b. 1836 Arundel f. Peter 1803-1877 Peter probably the son of Mary (1773-1858) and Hugh PENFOLD (1759-1845) This may well be the PENFOLD of Arundel family - engineers - the Arundel Town Hall had three pairs of gates with the name "Charles Penfold ARUNDEL" cast on the locks - for a time a tenon saw could also be found at Arundel Museum with the earlier name of the company "Penfold & Wimble"I don't know if that is the case now. Company name later changed to James Penfold "Iron Brass Founder & Agricultural Implement Maker of High Street, Arundel". Later still to James Penfold Ltd. Sources: Pikes Directory 1886; Mitchell's Monthly Advertiser (West Sussex Gazette); Tortington Ironworks lst surveyors drawing 1805 Ordnance Survey map. I believe it only fair to state that any information I forward should be only be taken as a possibility, unless I quote a source where it can be substantiated. Kate
Att Kate Burns Hello Kate, I have had a look at information I have in my tree and have come up with the following info that may refer to some of the names you have mentioned. If my information is incorrect I hope someone will correct me.... You mentioned PETER b. 1803 - 1877 I have a PETER b. 1803, christened 17Apr1803 in St Andres Church Steyning. His parents were Hugh Penfold b. 1766 in Broadwater by Worthing and Mary MArchant LASHMAR..... married 17 Jun1794 in Steyning. Arundal is not all that far from Broadwater and Steyning (about 2 inches on my map) so could possibly be the same family. I don't have any further details on PETER b.1803 so don't know if there were a wife or children Hope I haven't confused you Cheers Heather Domoney ----- Original Message ----- From: "kburns" <kburns2@bigpond.com> To: <PENFOLD-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, January 19, 2003 7:54 AM Subject: [Penfold] Re: PENFOLD-D Digest V03 #17 > The information given made take a fresh look at data I have: > > Charles PENFOLD b. 1836 Arundel f.
