Thanks Julie for the 1881 strays. FIRST: In case it is of use to anyone I think there is a link to someone in the Brighton 1851 Census. The person you show: Spring Vale Works, Hammersmith William Penfold 34 b. Clayton Carpenter - with wife Eleanor 29 + children Emma 10 b. Brighton, William 9, Harry 6, John 4 all b. Battersea and Ann 1 b. Hammersmith could possibly be the same as:- 1851: William PENFOLD age 5 son of Henry age 32 milkman born Worthing Sussex 39 Wood Street Brighton. Is anyone looking at this family? AND SECOND to Ron PENFOLD: Ref the Thomas: 12 Upper Rathbone Place, St Marylebone Thomas Penfold 63 b. Sussex Bootmaker Journeyman - with wife Eliza 55 b. Rouen, France (BS) + children Pauline 13, Lizzie 10, Thomas 7, Mary 5, Kate 2, James 11m all b. Middlesex. You have probably spotted him already, but if not, then my reasoning is:- Since this Thomas is from Sussex and is about the same age as the Thomas you are looking for, I feel that details of this one need to be kept, to help a later process of elimination, if you get a short list of possible Thomas's. AND THIRD: Question to Julie - Does your source show any clue to birthplace other than Sussex, for the above Thomas, please? Regards Ken
Hi Ken No sorry, that was all the info on his birthplace that was on the Census.
