Hello everyone, Does anyone have any information on Henry Penfold (born 1849 or 1850, probably in Horsham)? In the 1901 census he is listed as being head of household at 9 Victory Road, Horsham. Occupation: sugar boiler. I am fairly certain he is my great-great grandfather and am trying to trace further back. Thanks and Happy New Year to everyone! Hi Terry Regarding your Henry, I have found the following on the 1851 Census for Horsham. He may be yours:- North Street, Horsham James 25 smith(1 man) b. Horsham Jane 24 b. Horsham Henry 1 b. Horsham I believe James to be the same found on the 1841 Census:- Carfax James 55 smith James 15 smith's apprentice It is likely that James 55 is the son of Daniel & Martha b. 1782 and that he married Fanny Burster(Burstow!) in 1807. If so James 15 is probably his grandson, illeg. son of his daughter Fanny, b.1826 as James Waller Penfold (Waller would have been his father's surname). This is just speculation, however.
