    1. [Penfold] Penfolds United Kingdom
    2. Sid Geoghegan
    3. My name is Sid Geoghegan and I live in Southport, Lancashire, England. A 4x great grandfather was Edward Penfold born about 1730 who married Catherine Constable in Chichester in 1754. Catherine was born in Arundle, Sussex in 1730, her parents being Thomas Constable and Catherine Harrington. I do not know where Edward was born but he was 'of Arundel' at the time of his marriage. >From a family narrative written in 1865 and now supported by the Arundel church records, Edward and Catherine had three sons Edward, b 1759, Charles b 1773, John b unknown and three daughters Anne b1755, Catherine 1761 and Phillis b 1771. The family moved to Loose in Kent about 1780, where Edward jnr married Mary Crispe. They had four sons and five daughters. Only one son, William, had children but they did not have family and thus this line of Penfolds concluded. Charles married Mary Baker and they had George Stuart, b1798 and Catherine Ann, b1797. Catherine married James Cargill and this is where my connection with the Penfold family originates, for Cargill is my mother's family. George married Mary Collier and they had three sons, Charles Stuart, George Saxby, John W and six daughters, Alice, Mary b1828, Georgina b 1833, Emily b1834, Charlotte Hall b1839 and Anne Saxby b1860(!!).All of this generation were born in Ireland and this is where my Penfold line disappears. The last record I have is for Emily b1876 to John Penfold and Mary O'Flaherty in Dublin. I have been unable to trace the other male Penfolds and of the females only the first born Alice married. Her husband was Joseph Moore Binns and their children were Mabel Penfold b1873 and Noble Moore b 1874, both in Dublin. John, I believe married Charlotte Jane Brooks in about 1792 and they had two children, George Saxby b1808 (IGI) and Charlotte (family record). Charlotte married John Hall of Ashford, Kent.
