Dear List Members, My name is Ron Penfold and I live in Minot North Dakota. I am a descendant of Thomas George Penfold. He was my GGGramdfather and was born on Dec 22, 1817 in London or Sussex, and died May 27, 1888 in Massilon Iowa. Some of my older relatives think there were three brothers, one went to Canada, one to Australia and Thomas to the U.S. There is record of him living in Buffalo NY with a brother named William. He Married Elizabeth Parry, born in Wales Aug 12,1829, on Dec 28,1844 in Buffalo, New york. He was a Sailor for 21 years. Some say he was a Ships Captain. Their children were; James William,b Oct 5,1849(Born on a ship on the Great Lakes) Charles Oliver, bNov 12,1859 John Henry, b, Sep 6,1853 Rufus Cyrus, b Sep 1,1854 Laura Jane, b Aug 29,1856 Thomas George,b Aug 30,1858 Alfred Edward,b Feb 26,1860 Mary Elizabeth,b Oct 31,1861 Lenora Ann,b Apr 8,1864 Josephine Carnicle,b Mar 10,1875-NieceAdopted My GGrandfather was Rufus Cyrus. Would like to connect Thomas George with the Penfold's in England. I am stuck! Surely he had brothers and sisters there. He must have arrived in New york about 1830-35. Could have arrived VIA Petworth project. Does the name Pen Da Wald Little Hampton mean anything to anyone. I think that is where his ship departed from.
