Hi Ian, Sidney is in my family line. His father was Thomas (buried in Hartfield) the son of William who also lived in Hartfield. I am pretty certain that Kathleen was the sister of Barbara Thomas (nee Penfold) who still lives in Haywards Heath. I can't give any more information at the moment as I am on holiday in New Zealand. Hello Brenda I have found several generations of my Penfold line in Hawkhurst going back to John Penfold & Mary Gooding who married there 10 Dec 1804. John however does not appear to have been born there so I am trying to trace where he came from. Unfortunately he died before the 1841 census was taken so I can't check that to see which county he was born in. I am afraid I don't have either your grandfather or his parents in my file at the present, but when I do manage to trace where my John Penfold came from it is possible that we could be from the same line. I was hoping that other members might recognise some of the Johns baptised around 1768 but I think I must have been unlucky in this. Good luck with your research. Hi list it has been a while since i posted, so i am reposting my interests in Penfold. I am looking for any information on George Henry Penfold. George Henry was baptised 04.09.1842 in Fernhurst, Sussex. He was buried on 19.08.1924 in Fernhurst. His parents were Robert Penfold and Jane Grevett. George Henry married on 29.10.1865 in Fernhurst to Susannah Berry. They had the following children: Frederick Penfold born c 1868 in Easebourne Ellen Penfold b c ? in Easebourne Harry (Henry)Penfold born c 1873 in Easebourne. Harry was burried 07.10.1948 in Fernhurst and lived at Van Common. I dont think he married the electrol registers have a Henry listed at Van Common on his own. In the 1881 census, George is a widow and living at Lower Hawksford Farm, Fernhurst with his mother Jane (widow) one of his brothers - Robert (unmarried) and his children: Frederick, Ellen and Harry. The 1891 census has George Henry living alone in Fernhurst. Any information would be greatful.
