He was part of the Conewago Colony (Dutch Reformed Church) group who came from Somerset & Bergen Cos., New Jersey abt. 1771. So possibly he was born in NJ. He could be the Jno. Dennis who served in the 6th Bn.(substituting for James Dennis) from Lancaster Co.,PA. His wife was Anna Barbara SEILER, b. 1 Jan 1763, prob. of Lancaster Co.,PA, dau. of Ulrich Seiler & Maria Elizabeth Gysi. Maria md.2)Henry Graff in York Co. & died there in 1802. These two counties border each other. Known children are: Phillip, Anna, and Nancy.
