I was also wondering how the marriage of Joseph Beck and Nancy Studebaker can be proven. I have never found anything with her maiden name connecting her in marriage with my Joseph Beck. However, I did find a household sale list for the Studebaker family where Joseph Beck purchased some household items about the time of his marriage to Nancy. I have a bit more information- Recently revisited the Altland cemetery and found a Revolutionary War Veteran marker at the George Beck Sr.(b:1755)graveside. I will have to research this new development. FYI- My gg grandmother, Joseph Beck's second wife, was Mary Ann Leas b: 25 Sept 1840 d:18 June 1911. Her Father was John Leas b:5 Aug 1809 d:17 Jan 1887 buried at Burmudian Church of the Brethren in Washington Twp., York Co., Pa and mother, Mary Lerew b:8 Sept 1816 d:21 Mar 1875 also buried at Burmudian Church of the Brethren. This was the second marriage for Mary Ann Leas also. She was first married to Benjamin Lerew b:about 1835 d:1865 -see Administrative accounts Feb 1865, orphan's court, Adams County, Pa. Jacob Forst guardian of minor child Annie Laura Lerew, minor child of Benjamin Lerew, deceased. Again, this can get very confusing since Mary Ann Leas' mother was a Lerew and Mary Ann Leas's first marriage was also to a Lerew. Mary Ann Leas was very close in age to Joseph's daughter Mary A. Beck by his first wife Nancy Studebaker. My g-grandmother, Emma Jane Beck, said that her mother- Mary Ann Leas, being much younger than her husband Joseph Beck was great friends with her stepdaughter, Mary A. Beck, and these two Marys were more like sisters. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
