The primary goal, is to work on solving the mystery of Jacob Arney. I know his son, Christian Arney, Sr. was born in Yorktown, York County, Pennsylvania in 1750 (by Christian's own statement). Now I want proof, if it still exists. Finding proof of Christian Arney, Sr.'s birth or baptism would give me pertinent information about Christian's parents, more specifically their names. Then I need to find proof of Jacob Arney's existence in Pennsylvania prior to 1767 (land purchases or sales, tax rolls, census, etc.) I have went over the Pennsylvania State Archives and believe I have found as much information as it may offer. So, where else should I look (books, microfilm, microfiche, etc.)? I'm trying to find out who my Jacob Arney really was, who were his siblings, who were his parents, was he born in the USA or did he immigrate with his family, where was his family from, etc.? The Pennsylvania State Archives give me a glimpse of two areas of focus Colebrookdale Township, Berks County, PA Douglas Township, Philadelphia County, PA I believe Colebrookdale Township, in Berks County, PA is the wrong area because that is probably where Frederick and his son Jacob lived. I believe Douglas Township, in Philadelphia County, PA (which later became Montgomery County, PA) should be my focus area, the only problem with this theory, is that according to the Pennsylvania State Archives: Jacob Earney was in Douglass Township, Philadelphia County, PA in 1774 Series 3 Volume XIV Transcript of the Provincial Tax County of Philadelphia 1774 Page 324 Douglass Township Jacob Earney 100 acres, 2 horse, 2 cattle, tax 7.10.0 This would preclude this being my Jacob Arney, because he moved his family (including Christian Arney, Sr.) to North Carolina in 1767, therefore this was probably the Jacob, son of Frederick. Therefore, neither of these two places seem to give me any "leads" We know that Christian Arney, Sr. was born in Yorktown, York County, PA in 1750, by his own words, but I have yet to find any DTP (Definitive Tangible Proof) or record of it. In fact, in the Pennsylvania State Archives Series, there is very little mention of York County, PA at all. So, if my Jacob was in Pennsylvania, but was NOT in Berks County nor Philadelphia County, and I cannot find records of him in York County, where else do I look? Thank you for your time, consideration and cooperation, in this matter, I truly appreciate it. Sincerely, Stan ArneyWichita, KS
