Quote from the PA Vital Records: "Certifiedcopies of birth records may be issued only to the person named on the record, parent, grandparent, spouse (excluding common-law), brother, sister, child, grandchild, guardian possessing court order, or their legal representative." Does anyone know how to obtain copies of birth/death certificates for genealogical use if one does not meet the above requirement? I live in Texas. Thanks Chuck
How far back are you going from your generation? You could state that you are a descendent and doing genealogical research and ask that the copy be NON-CERTIFIED....meaning you could not use if for ID means - if that is what PA is concerned about - ID theft... Chuck - I'm not sure where you got the information you posted, but it seems to be out of date. You can obtain birth/death certificates for genealogical research from the state as long as the event occurred after 1906. Check out this link http://www.portal.health.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt/commun ity/genealogy_requests/14125 Hope this helps!
