I have an obit of my gggg grandfather Jacob Mangas. Printed in the Union City Times newspaper. It shows the connection between John C. Mangas of Toledo Ohio being his brother. Jacob having been born in York County, PA. I know a while ago there was a Mangas researcher looking into the Ohio Mangas surname. Hope you are out there to see this. date of birth is wrong. Lindsey MANGAS Jacob OBITUARY: Jacob Mangas of Jackson Twp. Randolph Co. , IN died Wed. 8/8 He was born in York Co. PA 11/25/1880. Oct. 25, 1825 he married Miss Elizabeth Hoke, sister of Seth and Abram Hoke of Union City, IN. They had 11 children 10 sons and 1 daughter, 2 of whom died in infancy (twins). He moved from Penn. to Richland Co. OH in 1832 and from thence to Jackson Twp., Randolph Co. IN in 1837. Mr. Mangas died aged 81y 8m and 13d. 11 Children. 9 living who also are parents and grandparents as follows: Age Children Living: Emanuel age 54; 4 children, 1 living. Sarah Smiley age 54; 8 children, 6 living, 4 gr-grandchildren. Casper age 52; 11 children, 10 living, 1 great-grandchild; John age 49, 1 child, 1 living. Jacob age 47; 6 children, 4 living. Eli age 44, 9 children, 6 living. Abraham age 41, 3 children, 3 living. Absolam age 39, 6 children, 2 living. David and Solomon (twins) died in infancy. His descendants consist of 11 children 46 grand-children, 5 great-grandchildren of these 9 children, 35 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren total 49. -Union City Times, Sat. Aug 11, 1883 John C. Mangas of Toledo, OH and Samuel and Jacob Mangas of Hartsburg IL were present at the funeral of Mr. Jacob Mangas Thursday.
