    2. There are three Michael Zimmermans in the Index to the 1800 Census of Pennsylvania. The index only lists the head of households. One in Somerset County and a Michael and Michael Jr., Berks County. Jean **************New year...new news. Be the first to know what is making headlines. 2. David Zimmerman
    3. Jean, Thank you for your response. I appreciate your taking the time to look into this query. With a name like Zimmerman, you have to look for the vaiations as the name has many possibities dependent on how the census taker heard it pronounced. The "Z" letter in German has a "ts" sound. So, I have found the following variations in my research; Simmerman, Zimerman, Simerman, Sumermin (in 1790), Skimeron, Summerman and don't get me started on Carpenter. I believe if you check your 1800 index, you will find two Zimmermans in Somerset (Junior and Senior) and one in Berks Counties. You should also find a Michael Zimerman in Berks County. Thanks again for looking. ----- Original Message ----- From: <JEANFAZZ@aol.com> To: <payork@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, January 02, 2009 5:51 PM Subject: Re: [PAYork] Help locate the birthplace of these Zimmerman children > There are three Michael Zimmermans in the Index to the 1800 Census of > Pennsylvania. > The index only lists the head of households. > One in Somerset County and a Michael and Michael Jr., Berks County. > Jean > **************New year...new news.
