In York there are Lether, Lethers, Leathers, Letter, Lether, Lather and Lethra. In the erly days there was no "official" spellings. Courts, Tax assessors ,census takers, churches etc. Spelled your name the way they heard it. Some times it was German on German or English on German or English on English etc. the best way to do yours is to trace your own genealogy. If you can get back to the 1900 census I'll see what I can do. A Lrederick Leathers came to America in 1728 on the ship Mortonhouse landing in Philadelphia. In 1736 he had land survryed in Manchester Twp York Co. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
