    3. Hello and thank you. I am looking for a baptism record from a 'St. John's Church' probably Lutheran, for my 3rd gt.gd.fa. Jacob Schleich/Slyh/Sly (those are the legitimate spellingsm it could be any spelling that when pronounced sounds like Sly.) Jacob left a record here in Franklin Co., OH that says he was baptized at 'St. John's, Newtown, Lancaster Co., PA, 31 Oct 1798, Some of his family show up earlier in the tax records of Rapho Twp., Lancaster Co., earlier, but the surname is so butchered up I cannot be sure. Jacob's parents were Mathias & Mary (Drill) Schleich. They changed the spelling of the surname to Slyh after they moved to Harper's Ferry, VA(WV) and my mother's people still spell it that way. Jacob's uncle Henry in Pickaway Co., OH used the spelling Sly, but a married dau gave one of her children the middle name Slyh. I have pretty much exhausted Lancaster Co., possibilities and now believe Jacob's baptism record is more likely to be found in York or Bucks County. There is a family reunion paper that says Mathias' father Frederich was born in York Co.. Mathias, Jacob's father, was born 1766 at Heidelberg Union Church, Heidelberg Twp., Northampton, now Lehigh Co., PA. I have that church history. We were in the Lutheran congregation there. I would be interested in any Schleich's you come across. I would be pleased to do lookups from this end in my library for the central OH counties of Franklin, Madison, Union, Fairfield, Champaign or Pickaway. Thank you. 1. [PAYork] Ohio Relative - Samuel E. Miller
    2. Mellinger's
    3. Dear Rev. Gray: I saw your post on the PAYork site. I planned to go to the Heritage Trust for you but someone else beat me to it. I would appreciate if you could see if you could find info for me. I am looking for Samuel Elias Miller born May 6, 1837 in Delaware County, Ohio. Civil War records say he was born in Delaware County, Ohio. I do not know his parents names. His siblings included Sarah, David, and William. Samuel married 3 times - December 3, 1857 to Juliann Ness. She died after bearing 6 children. Samuel married March 4, 1869 to Ellen Brenneman who died after bearing 8 children. Samuel married November 11, 1880 Mary Strayer who died in 1899 in York, PA. Samuel died July 31, 1888 in York, PA I do not know when Samuel moved to York, PA. Any help would be appreciated. I would guess church records would be a good place to start since there are no state central records that early. I would guess maybe to start with Lutheran since the offspring are Lutheran. Samuel E. Miller was my husband's great, great grandfather. B.
