I have been told that he was the great uncle of my grandmother, Mary Catherine Foose of York Pa. I was under the impression that he served three terms as a substitute at $300.00 per term and was killed on his third enlistment. He has a Bible with him that was lost and later recovered at Rappahanock VA. I also have his Union cap and a photo of him.
