I am in a quandary over a Samuel Hake born about 1809-1812 in Chanceford Twp. He was the son of William Hake who died at the young age of 35 in 1823. William left his wife Catherine with 5 small children all were under the age of 10 in 1820. I have not been able to locate a marriage record or birth records for their children. However, via Orphans court documents, I have been able to find the names of the children. >From this record Samuel appears to have been the eldest son and was sent to live with his Uncle Conrad Hake. He does not up in any census records. There is a birth record for a Susanna Hake born 1834 to a Samuel and Elizabeth Hake. It is possible this may be a different Samuel. He is laid to rest at St Lukes Cemetery as a Veteran of the Civil War. Her died at the battle of Petersburg , VA. There does not appear to be a pension record for him. So either he was never married or his wife was dead before him. Just wondering if there are any others working on the Hake and allied families of Chanceford & Windsor Twp.
