I am looking for information on the family of Adam and Barbara Harman Stough. Barbara was born in 1811 and died in 1889. She married Adam Stough (1811-1885), and they had the following children: Jonas - b. 20 June 1835 Caroline - b. 27 May 1837 Eliza - b. abt. 1839 Joesph - b. 20 Jan 1842 - d. 20 Dec. 1923 (married Lydia Miller) Louisa - b. 6 Oct 1844 - d. 28 Oct 1846 Edward - b. 13 Apr. 1845 (married Isadora Celinda Melinda Dixon and Ella Einsig) Hannah - b. abt. 1846 George - b. 16 May 1849 - d. 15 May 1850 Wilhelm - b. 17 Feb. 1850 - d. 20 Feb. 1850 Sarah - b. abt. 1852 Matilda - b. 6 Aug 1854 - d. before 1860 Adam and Barbara are located in Adams County census records but the family has ties to York County as well. They were located in the census as follows: 1840 - Menallen Twp., Adams County 1850 and 1860 - Reading Twp., Adams County 1870 - Straban Twp., Adams County 1880 - Reading Twp., Adams County I am primarily working to identify Adam's ancestry, which through poor children listed in tax records, we can determine his father was Jacob Stough. We are unsure which Jacob Stough his father may be, but know he was born between 1770 and 1780. We also feel his mother was named Mary, also born between 1770 and 1780. She is buried in Hampton Lutheran/Reformed Cemetery in Reading Twp., Adams County. Possibly through the family of Barbara Harman we can find out more on this family.
