Here is another installment on early Shaffer/Sheffer/Schaeffer, et al., families of York County. I descend from George Ludwig Scheffer, brother of this George Jacob Scheffer. George Jacob Scheffer of Codorus tp., York County, PA There were two Jacob Scheffer/Sheffer’s in early York, both raising young families. They have occasionally been confused because the other Jacob Sheffer moved to Dover tp. during his final years, residing near the George Ludwig Sheffer, who was the son of John Sheffer, with whom George Jacob Sheffer is frequently linked. I have no been able to trace George Jacob’s family; however, there are promising deed records indicated below that surely pinpoint at least several of his children. I would be most appreciative if any one in York or Pennsylvania could check those references.
