My parents reconnected with Hassler relatives in Switzerland about 20 years ago. I have excerpts from Helen Hassler Demsey's book as well as notes by Lucille Koontz from 1975. As part of the notes, I have a transcript of the will of Michael Hassler written Feb 5, 1774. I am descended from George Hassler, fourth son of Michael and Margreta Hassler from Adam Co. Pa.. George Hassler (b. Nov 14, 1758, d. May 24. 1837 in Adams Co. Pa) married Elizabeth Roemer (b.Oct.18, 1761). Their son Daniel (b. Oct 19, 1791 d. April 6, 1829) married Mary Slentz. George Hassler served in the 7th Batt. of You Co. Malitia in 1780 during the Revolutionary War. Also on pay roll list of Capt. George Giselman from Dec. 1781 to Feb. 1782. Also listed as a Fifer in 1782. His other brothers Joseph, Christian, Michael and Abraham also served. George owned land in4 miles north of Gettysburg and part of the Battle of Gettysburg was fought on his land during the Civil War and is now included on the historic battlefield. I have notes that state that Daniel Hossler died on the way from Pa to Indiana. Daniel and Mary Slentz had 5 children before he died, George Washington Hossler b. 1818, Jacob Hossler (b.1791 my ancestor), Elizabeth Hossler married Jacob Beck, Jeremiah Hossler b. 1824 married Hannah Jones, and Daniel Franklin Hossler b. 1825 married Margaret Jones. Mary Slentz remarried to I.E. Foulkes and had seven more children. Their second son Jacob Hossler born 1819 married Susanna Vink born 1819 and had 10 children. Their daughter Margaret Ellen Hossler married Osiah Palmer (my gg grandparents). Their daughter Katherine Ruth Palmer married Benjamin Grafton Gifford from Pierceton Indiana and they had one son. Wendell Wallace Gifford (deceased) who was my father. I look forward to sharing information.
