I am looking for information on Rachel Steele of York County. She died sometime prior to 1858. Wonder if anyone had information on her spouse & children. One document in Lancaster county Orphan court records shows a distribution to heirs Mary, Elizabeth & Andrew Donnon great grandchildren of Rachel Steele of York county. They were the children of Andrew & Elizabeth (Burk) Donnon of Lancaster co, and later of Chester co, Pa. Andrew was dec'd by 1850 and Elizabeth & children are living with her mother in Lancaster county. I am actually related to the Burk side of this family But I am looking for an ancestor who seems to want to remain a brick wall!! Elizabeth Steele was a widow living in Little Britain township, Lancaster county 1810,1820 census and died in 1821 leaving a will STEELE,Elizabeth Will Book N Volume 1 page 48-49 Written 10 Aug 1821 Proved 20 aug 1821 of Little Britain township Lancaster county Children John,- $1.00 Susan Porter,- $1.00 Thomas, - $1.00 Margaret Burkins, - wearing apparel Sarah Hammond - $1.00 & James; Land residue of estate real & personal to son James Ex Sons Thomas and James witnessed by Timothy Haines , Slater Brown Her home was in the area of the Peach Bottom Ferry, which traveled to Peach Bottom York county It is possible she is a widow of a Steele from the York county side of the river :). Rachel has caught my interest since the Donnon's are related. The parents of Elizabeth Burk Donnon _ Hugh & Elizabeth Layman Burk lived very close to Elizabeth Steele. I can't help but feel they are somehow related. Marie **************Plan your next getaway with AOL Travel. Check out Today's Hot 5 Travel Deals!
