The Hokes were Morgan horse breeders, farmers and when farming was tough moved into Manhattan, bought bldgs and used them as boarding houses. Good farming season, back to the farm. They leased land not bought land. I see many generations re use grandparents names every so many times. My cousin in NY is also looking for our family. Marie F.
