    1. [PAYork] Arney wives and husbands
    2. Stan Arney
    3. Hi, I have been researching the Arney surname for most of 30 years, and I have found a flaw in the way I have been doing it.  I have basically ignored the wives (and husbands).  Only looking for the Arney name.  It was brought to my attention some time ago,  that in order to find them when I look at their name in the Census, to also look at their neighbors (the other people listed on the same page, the page before and the page after).  After all, marriages were usually done with people who lived the nearest to you, neighbors.  By knowing the maiden names of the wives (who married Arneys) and the husbands names (of those who married Arney women) maybe I can pinpoint where to continue researching to solve the more deeper mysteries.  My particular branch of the Arney's, I have traced back to a Jacob Arney, who died in Lincoln County, North Carolina in 1784.  [Note: This is NOT the Jacob, son of Frederick Ernigh who arrived in the USA in 1732!]  This Jacob Arney was previously in the York County area of Pennsylvania until 1767, when he moved his family to North Carolina.  One of Jacob Arney's sons, Christian Arney, Sr. was born in York County, PA in 1750, and he later moved with his father to North Carolina.  Once in North Carolina, Jacob Arney had another son, Peter Arney born in 1772 in Tryon (now Lincoln) County, NC.  Unfortunately, tracing these people is quite difficult since the first "official" Federal Census was not taken until 1790.  Meaning this Jacob Arney would have died six years prior to it.  Also meaning that any of Jacob Arney's siblings or his parents would be quite difficult to trace.  I have tried checking the Federal Census, in all states, of 1790 and you do not find very much at all. So, I need your help. If anyone researching or has researched this branch of the Arney's could please send me what you have on any of these Arney's, their parents, siblings, wives and husbands, it would be deeply appreciated.  Finding my branch of the Arney's "holy grail" is what I seek, solving the mystery of Jacob Arney!  Maybe by researching the names of these peoples spouses, I can find a new piece of the puzzle, and besides these are pieces I need in either case. Thank you for your time, consideration, and cooperation, in this matter, I deeply appreciate it. Sincerely, Stanley Arney Wichita, KS   Researching my Arney heritage, looking for definitive tangible proof of each of their existence, so we KNOW the truth and can share it with others. Building a website that will make it easier for those who come after me to find their Arney lineage at www.arneygenealogy.com

I looked for the surname Esterline and found a John Esteline (no R) to a Maggie L. Diehl under Groom. Under Bride a Alice Esterline to Jacob Buckingham Oct.28 1879 and a Sarah Esterline to Chas.F.McComas April 20 1881. Didn't find a Frances Esterline. let me know if you need any thing else. I have not seen an Angeline surname and so I wonder if this uneducated Frances could be the Frances Esterline that I have been looking for. She last appeared as a servant living with the Simon Shafer family in the 1880 Md. census. I trying to find surviving Hoover family to confirm or reject theory. Author: KerryM3410 Surnames: Eash, Worthington Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.counties.york/14927/mb.ashx Message Board Post: 3 DEATHS IN 11 WEEKS Mr. and Mrs. Frank Eash, Former Residents of This City, Lose Another Child. To lose three children by death in eleven weeks is the unfortunate record of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Eash, of York, Pa., who were nine years ago residents of this city. The last of the children to die was Minnie, aged six years, who passed away at 3:30 Wednesday morning, a victim of paralysis of the heart. Mrs. George Worthington, of No. 534 Bedford street, grandmother of the child, and Mrs. Valentine Worthington, of Woodvale, an aunt, started Wed-nesday morning for York to attend the funeral, which took place at 10 o'clock yesterday morning. I believe what you quoted is for Mathias's son Mathias 2nd. Mathias 1st would have been pretty old to serve. What I am probably looking for is something that proved that he contributed to the American Revolutionary cause ie. Was the land her owned used for a purpose connected to the American Revolution? Is it the land that the present York County Fair is held on? I really think that if I could figure out where he owned land and what went on there during the American Revolution, I might have proof that he was a patriot. 1. [PAYork] Bonham and Zook
    2. Brownie MacKie
    3. Hi, everybody! I am new on this list, but not new to genealogy. The following people are in my interest realm at the moment: *Jacob Dritt Bonham* of York County, son of *Samuel Cox Bonham* and *Margaret Dritt*. Jacob was b. 1820. *Disappeared after 1846*. Cannot find him in records after that. Samuel Cox Bonham married (1) Margaret Dritt (2) *Elizabeth Stehman Strickler*. Samuel Cox Bonham died in 1856 after a reception for James Buchanan. Samuel was an associate judge and active in politics in the area. He is supposed to be buried in Prospect Hill Cemetery, but I cannot find him. *Matilda G. Zook* of Lancaster County. Was with her mother and father, David and Mary Zook in 1850 and 1860 (Matilda used the surname Bonham int eh 1860 census but not the 1850 census) along with her son DWC Bonham. In the 1900 census, Matilda was now named Matilda Nissley and was 73 and head. DWC Bonham was 54...and son. Their son,* DeWitt Clinton Bonham, born 1846. * I am interested in finding out about Jacob D. and also DeWitt Clinton Bonham as far as marriage records, death records, or any other vital records are concerned. DWC Bonham was found in Chicago in 1892 on a voter's list, but was back in PA by 1900. Thanks a bunch! Sincerely, Brownie MacKie Bonham Researcher

    1. [PAYork] suggested variant spellings
    2. Greetings, I am working on locating the marriage records for a Joseph Reider and his wife Mary " Fairsthuble or Fansthube" The spellings are a guess. Resided in Lower Windsor/Wrightsville area. I have tried locating any spellings on the soundex or metaphone that are even close to these spellings and have had no luck...in any country. The closets name I find in York Co is Firestone. has anyone else ever seen this name of any close facsimile there of? Or do you have any other ideas of what it may be?
