They were expelled Lutherans and their families traveled "the great wagon road" from PA to Maryland, VA and down to the "Salzburger" community of Ebenezer, GA. Watch for middle names (almost all were "John" fist names but they were known by middle). I've just discovered that "Heinsman" (later Anglized to "Hindsman") is a name from the Netherlands - "Heinsmans'" migrated into the Westphalin area of Germany after 1590.First into America were parents Jerg & Cathrine Heinsman (1734)w/children:Susanna, Anthony,Johan Henrich,Maria Magdelena,Joseph, Johannes. Hufnagel Sr. HUFNAGEL, Raymond J. Sr., 95, of Hanover, PA died, Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at Genesis Health Care Center in Gettysburg, PA. He was the husband of Mary G. (Lawrence) Hufnagel, who died January 28, 2005. In 1954, Ray sold his business in Pennsylvania and took his wife and two sons to Tucson, Arizona. For ten years Ray worked as a salesman for the Arizona Hardware Wholesale Supply Co. He then became the manager of the winter resort in Tucson known as "Christopher Square Inn" where he worked until the time of this retirement in 1972. He and his wife then became "snowbirds" spending the winter months at their home in Jerome, Arizona and returning to their roots in Pennsylvania during the summer. Ray continued daily activities at the farm until he was 91 years old. Surviving are one son, Wayne P. Hufnagel and wife Rosalie of Springfield, VA; a daughter-in-law, Audrey Hufnagel of California; four grandchildren, Raymond J. Hufnagel III, Captain W. Patrick Hufnagel II, Peter E. Hufnag! el, and Maria Hufnagel; two great-grandchildren, Raymond J. Hufnagel IV and Davis M. Hufnagel. He was preceded in death by a son Colonel Raymond J. Hufnagel Jr. and ten brothers and sisters.
