Born in Hershey, he was the son of the late Elda Hutchison Gage and Leon H. Gage, Sr. He worked as a machinist at AMS of York. He was a member of the Eagles and the Moose, both of Hanover, and the McSherrystown Home Association. He was predeceased by one brother, Robert Gage. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Leon H. Gage III and Robert E. Gage, both of McSherrystown, and one daughter, Mrs. Helen H. Spangler of York. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Hicks Funeral Home in McSherrystown, with the Rev. Charles E. Persing officiating. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Littlestown. He was Hanover's first reported casualty and the county's ninth since the start of the Korean fighting. He served three years with the Army in World War II in the European theater and Germany then reinlisted last year. The missing soldier is the son also of the late Hilda Frock Clouser; has four sisters, Mrs. Richard Abbott, East Berlin R.D., Betty Jane and Reba Clouser, at home, Roma Clouser, Third Street, and a brother, David Clouser, at home. Author: RickHuneke Surnames: Klunk, Frock Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.counties.york/14942/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Piano Teacher Killed Friday in Auto Crash A 43-year old Hanover mother was killed and her 12-year old son and 70-year old housekeeper were injured seriously when a concrete mixing truck driven by a York Springs man and the Hanover woman's station wagon collided at Highland Ave. and Bannister St., West Manchester Township, near York, Friday morning. Mrs. Leona S. Klunk, 103 Pine St., Hanover, was pronounced dead at York Hospital at 10:45 a.m., 15 minutes after Reliance Fire Company's ambulance had taken her to the hospital. Her son, Randy, was in serious condition in the hospital's intensive care unit with internal injuries. The housekeeper, Clara Kindig, 22 Monroe St., Hanover, was also in serious condition in the hospital's intensive care unit. She suffered a skull fracture, multiple fractured ribs, and a fractured right arm. Entered Intersection Chief of Police Harry E. Kochenour, of West Manchester Township, said Mrs. Klunk's 1964 Falcon station wagon was northbound on Highland Ave. when it pulled out from a stop intersection into the path of the truck, which was traveling east on Bannister St. The station wagon was pushed into two utility poles. The truck driver, Ernest L. Fleshman, 24, York Springs R. 2, was not injured. The truck is owned by G.A.F. Company, Inc., a subsidiary of York Stone and Supply Company. Dr. H. Malcolm Read, county coroner, said an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of Mrs. Klunk's death. Music Instructor Mrs. Klunk had been employed for about nine years as an organ and piano teacher by Menchey Music Service, Inc., 430 Carlisle St., Hanover. For the past year she was also organist for "The Four Sharps" dance band which is the current house band for the Thomasville Inn. She had previously been a member of other bands in this area. A 1941 graduate of Eichelberger Senior High School, Hanover, Mrs. Klunk was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church, Hanover, and the Alter Rosary Society. She also belonged to the Local 49 of the Musician's Union. She was the wife of Donald R. Klunk, and was a daughter of Monroe Frock, 22 Monroe St., and the late Mrs. Lottie Idella Flickinger Frock. Also surviving Mrs. Klunk are another son, Martin Klunk, at home, and a brother, Harvey Frock, 702 Carlisle St., Hanover.
