I think we may have communicated in the past, but need to check my files to be certain. Haven't done much new research on Cooksons in years. Still wondering what became of Andrew Cookson, our mutual gggg grandfather. Recently I acquired a photo of Elisha Cookson, son of Prudence Cookson, Andy Cookson's daughter. His father was unknown. He was in the 1850 and 1860 census in household of Shelby Stafford, but David C. Brown, in an affidavit for Elisha's Civil War Pension, says his parents, John W. and Henrietta Stafford Brown raised Elisha until he joined the Union Army in 1861. I do not know why Elisha was not raised by his mother or other Cookson family members. My line is Prudence Cookson who married George W. Query, George W. Query Jr. who married Matilda Rider, Ida Query who married Lincoln Miley, Alma Irene Miley who married Garrett Hobart Curtis, my mother Catherine Curtis Williams. The fifth brother was George, my ancestor, who immigrated in 1789. He met up with his brother Jost (Joseph) in Fayette County, PA. He was unaccounted for, for about 6 years. I think he was with either Adam or other family members in or near Hagerstown MD. George St near the Interstate 83 ramp. If you continue south on George St. a road is off to your right that goes up a hill. There is a very sharp turn and on the right side of the road is the entrance. At the top of the cemetery is where the priests are buried. Both Church's have people buried there and at one time they were separated. My mother and her family are buried there. I was always told about the German/Irish split as well.
