Hello List - I have John B. Gray in my Master Gray Index for VA: Born 1823, son of Archibald & Sarah Gullett (Brown). Married 1848 Nicholas Co., VA to Rosannah Ewing. His father Capt. Archibald was born ca 1774, d. 1830. He married Monroe Co., VA 24 Nov 1812 to Sarah Gullett (Brown) per a mc there. He left an estate in Monroe Co., VA/WV Inventory dated 1831 & Sale Bill 1831 (WV Estates by Johnston.) Children were Elizabeth 1816, George Washington 1822, John B. 1823, Margaret 1818, Jeanetta T. 1813, Charles Marion 1829, all named in father's will. 1820-40 census for Monroe Co. applies. I have been tracking this Gray family from Monroe Co., for years. They originated in Greenbrier Co., VA/WV at a place called Pataskala. My John Gray 1785-1855 was married in Monroe Co., to Susanna Thompson in 1816. I have nothing on this Ewing family but you might look for them in the Monroe Co., area. My Thompsons appear to have come from the southern part of Monroe Co., now Giles Co., VA.. I have not had much luck on the Goods/Billets/Davies in PA. I am descended from John Henry Good m. abt 1877(s/o Elia and Lyssindia ?Matthews? both born York, PA according to his DC) and Catherine Louise Davies and my grandmother was born in Sparrow Point. But then I found the DC for John's brother Jacob E. Good (at least I believe him to be his brother he lived in Sparrow's Point)which has father Elias Good b. PA mother listed as Lucinda Billet?? b. PA. Since the fname of mother was so close on each I thought maybe the lname was wrong on one of the DC's but maybe they are 2 totally different people??? Anyway I do have the 1900 and 1910 Sparrows Point Census that you mentioned. I figured Elias and Lucinda passed away between 1910 and 1920 since I couldn't find them in 1920 census so I looked through Baltimore death records with no luck. Since they are burried in Fairview Township, they must have gone back their prior to their death or were they just burried there? I got their marriage date of 15 Dec 1853 from someone else's family tree and was trying to prove it. I looked through 2 FHL films#22249 and 22251 for York Co. but they were very hard to read and I didn't find anything. I also got parent's names from that family tree and since the 1850 and 1860 census from Fairview had those names as well I was guessing, although I had not put anything except notes in my database because I was looking for actual birth/death and marriage records to prove these things. What Church did you find the marriage records for Henry Billet to Mary Sipe and Peter Good to Catherine Hake? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Still searching for descendands of John and Margaret Smith of then York County, now Adams County, Huntington and Tyrone townships of the period 1743 - 1788. Their children were George, John, Elizabeth married James Smith before 1783}, Eleanor {married Robert Crawford before 1783} and Hugh Smith. Eleanor and Robert Crawford moved to Venango County about 1803. Hugh Smith went south to Virginia about 1781 or 1782. William and Elizabeth Smith also of Huntington and Tyrone Townships, York County, now Adams, their children consisted of James, George, William, and Eleanor {married David Beals} before 1780. Each John Smith and William Smith had almost 200 acres in the area of north Huntington and Tyrone townships. One of the two George Smith men married a Sarah Brandon and remained on the land, the other George Smith was a miller in the area. Any other information appreciated, or connection to these families. Will share data. Thank You, Judy Smith/Colorado
