His father is Peter C. smith who lives near the Walkers. But his mother is not EVE. His mother is Peter's first wife who died by 1839. However I don't know if Peter really had a first wife or not. otherwise Peter would have had to marry Eve when she was 14/15 to have Israel be 19 in 1850. There is a York Co. will Y-183 for a Peter Smith who died in 1871 in York. I will try to look at it the next time I am in York. Peter is alive in Adams Co in 1870 with wife Eve and sons Adam and David, Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. In 1850 I think he is the Israel Smith 19 in Wheatfield Twp Perry Co. working on a farm. what do you think? I will look at the taxes for Washington Twp between 1850 and 1860 and see if anything can be determined Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I'm not sure about the census. It could be her but there are so many Esther Millers in Pa I was hoping someone had more concrete info. I found a 1920 census in York Ward 7, York, Pa with: Anthony & Lucinda Miller Tellie 13 Arthur 10 Esther 8 Dorathy 6 Lester 4 I have the 1930 census for Joseph Bitner and she's not there either. thanks for responding Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The posting of your Smith and Walker families interest me. Do you have any record of either of your families moving to Missiouri? I have a Hugh Smith who was born in Kentucky about 1817, and moved with his parents to the north central Missouri County of what was then Ralls, in the 1820's. His parents both died and he moved with his brother south to what was then Greene County, MO. This Hugh Smith married twice, and of his second wife, Hugh had a son named Walker D. Smith, born in 1856 in Taney county, MO. I have always thought this was an interesting combination of names that I had not seen before in my Smith family records. Do you know of any connection of these families?. My Smith family also were in York County, PA as early as 1743. Also, do you have any families named Donaldson in your Smith and Walker familiies? Smith ( born 1829 and died 1915) who is buried at Warrington Meeting House cemetery in Wellsville, PA along with his wife Phebe Angeline Walker (daughter of Asahel and Lydia Garrettson Walker) and a Lydia Smith that I assume is Israel's sister since she was born in 1828 and died in 1916. Israel and Phebe had 5 children - Elwood Walker, Catherine Iva, Lydia Jane, Etta Angeline and Anna Mary who is buried with her parents. Any help would be appreciated. I have worked with Hugh Zorger on the Zorger line, so I do know you contributed most of the Prowell information that we have. Thank you. Good to finally "talk" to you. I did find Wilson Prowell's article in the paper when he died. I didn't find any obits or articles on Elizabeth or the children. Do you have any? I have been taking pictures of all the headstones here in Stark County, Ohio on the Zorger side that I can, and I have copied tons of obits at the library and any articles I can find in books or newspapers. That stinks that the owners won't let you have access to the cemetery to take pictures of the headstones. It seems that our answers lie in York County as to where we can find Frederick Zorger's parents and siblings, cousins, etc. Since I don't live close, it's hard to look thru church records or library books and of course cemetery walks. If you have any articles or obits on the Wilson Prowell family or any of the Zorgers, I would surely appreciate it. I know all of the Zorgers will be related somehow and we just need the link to tie them together. My email is pumpky27@hotmail.com. Thanks for anything you can give me on this. A large amount of the Prowell family from Fairview Township in York County are buried at Salem Church on Valley Road in York County, Pa. I am married to a Prowell for over 48 years now and he and I have both walked lots of cemeteries in doing our research. The very early Prowell's are buried in Prowell Cemetery, located on private land and not accessible at this time. I have tried and tried to get onto the property, but the owners will not let anyone have access. There is no other way to get to the Prowell Cemetery since it is located on top of a hill in the middle of a field. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
