Author: GrandmothersNextGeneration Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.counties.york/15064/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Catherine Horn was the mother of son George Spangler; he was born 1880 - death 1889 in Adams, Pennsylvania. *********************************************************** Ancestory.com members listed Sources found; 1850 United States Federal Census Record Census & Voter Lists Name:Catherine Horn Birth:year in location Residence: year in city, Carbon, Pennsylvania, Name: Catherine Horn, Birth Adams, Ohio Death Adams, Ohio Catherine Horn, Birth 1 JUN 1788 Adams, Ohio Death 20 JAN 1839 Adams, Ohio *********************************************************** Catherine Horn and Henry Spangler married in the year of 1809; nine years after George would have been born, and Catherine would have been about 21 years old at the time of marriage, although about 12 when he was born. I question if this is the right person because of her age when George was born, and where Catherine may have died? Was it in Adams, Ohio or a possible error in recording the wrong State, DOB, or person? especially since Pinetown, Adams, PA is where Catherine's husband had later died in 1866, and Adams, PA is where her son George was born and died. I am Researching for more information, especially where Catherine is buried and memorial? Any records about Catherine Horn or information about her parents are welcomed. Please note I am listing on my personal source as Adams, Pennsylvania at this time for Catherine Horn; may not be an accurate source to attach or copy. *********************************************************** Pennsylvania Spangler Ancestors Rudolph Spangler Obituary includes his family history Birth March 1, 1720, in Weyler, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany, Death 1782 in Pinetown, York County, Pennsylvania, USA. He was the son of Kasper Spengler and Judith Ziegler. He immigrated to Pennsylvania in 1727 on the ship "William and Sarah". His father gave Rudolph and his brother Jonas 719 acres near the Little Conewago Creek, on the Conocoeheague Road, Jackson Twp., 7 miles west of York. This area became known as the Spangler Valley because prior to 1856 every acres of this tract was occupied and owned by Spanglers. Rudolph is buried at Pigeon Hill Cemetery, Paradise Twp. near Pinetown, PA. ********************************************************** My Horn/Spangler Family Tree Catherine Horn m. 1. Re: [PAYork] Samuel Landis, died 1870
    2. karen conley
    3. Hi Nanette, Sorry to be so long in answering. The Samuel Landis that I am searching for was born in 1798, was married to a Jane Baxter in 1822 in the Christ Lutheran Church, he had at least three chldren, Emanuel, born August 8, 1827, Rebecca and Louisa Ann. All three children baptized in Christ Lutheran. Emanuel, my great great grandfather, enlisted in the military for service in the Mexican War from Newark, Licking, County, Ohio at aound 18 years of age. He remained in Ohio after the Mexican War except fo his service during the Civil War and is buried at the Dayton National Cemetery. I have not been able to find anything on his parents or sisters but am thinking that his father, Samuel Landis, may have been the same Samuel Landis listed on the 1870 Mortality Schedule in York County as the age would have been correct. Emanuel stated in his military records that he was born at Little York, York County PA, so the family must have been living in York Twp in 1827. Karen

Someone e-mailed me and told me we decended from the Waynes who made the Enfield rifles. I have started a new search under the Wayne Family, because I had a lot of things wrong. Im not sure of that. So maybe I will get somewhere in my new search. I just now advanced to the World Ancestry, hoping it will help. Do not have the e=mail or address of person who sent me that. Will post if I find something new. Brenda Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have no info prior to William b. ca 1765. Where did your Derbyshire info come from? I knew from Anne, Earlene and others that William was a son of John, who was a son of our Thomas. There was also a William, son of William M (your ancestor). Michael Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
