JACOB REED appears on the 1814-1815 Tax rolls for Manheim Twp. before they move over the state line into Carroll County, Maryland. I'm assuming Jacob's wife (possible name Christina) died between the birth of her youngest child (abt 1784) and the 1800 census. She was a sister of Gwen's Cecelia > Susan Emig. I haven't found any evidence that she belongs in my Sprankle-Sprenkle-Sprinkle family, so Gemblin may indeed be correct. But it would be interesting to know why some researcher at some point in time thought her maiden name might be Sprenkle. The Apenkle name that Gwen posted could be a typo or a misinterpretation of Sprenkle. There are later Sprenkle-Emig connections, including Adam Hershey Sprenkle who married Louisa Emig in 1867. Michael Myer of Trumbull Co., OH said in 1849 that he knew and lived near Andrew Patterson in the Barrens of York CO., PA. I found this in the Footnote Pensions for Andrew Patterson W2844. I also saw an article from The York Dispatch called County Notebook which states that the Scotch Irish settled in the Barrens in southeast York. I would assume that to be Shrewbury, Fawn, and Chanceford. I know Andrew md Margaret Dickson in York in 1785 but by 1808 he is living in Mercer Co., PA which became Lawrence Co., PA after 1850. Hi Margaret, You questioned the maiden name of Anna Marie, married to Johann Phillip Emig.......Was it Sprenkle or Gemblin? Back when I researched this family I had the same problem. My source says I chose GEMBLIN because somewhere I found a record which said "name of wife as "born Gemblin" confirmed in fraktur for birth of son Johannes (John)". Unfortunately years ago I did not do detailed notes as I do now, so I don't know where the fraktur info was found! My ancestor was Catherine Emig, daughter of John Emig and Anna Maria Pflieger. She was a sister of Gwen's Cecelia Susan Emig. Hi Gwen, I'm thinking there is a typo in your death date for John Emig married to Anna Marie Pflieger. According to my info he was born 16 Nov, 1798 and died 20 Oct 1871(instead of 20 Jan, 1799). Just wanted to be sure you knew.... My ancestor Catharine Emig was a sister of your Cecelia Susan Emig.
