    1. Re: [PAYork] Dewalt name in David Dewalt YOUNG of 1740s-1800 Yorkco, PA & Fr...
    2. I wouldn't rule it OUT but I wouldn't THINK or expect Dewalt used as a "middle" name for a German to be a surname. My reason for saying that is because German naming systems don't really have a first and middle name as we use them. The MIDDLE name is actually the rufname or call name which is similar to our given names. The FIRST name is really a saints' name or baptismal name--usually Johan (but not always). So if your ancestor was John David and went by David--I'd suspect Dewalt in this case is NOT a surname and not a clue for you. Joan In a message dated 6/12/2009 4:42:33 P.M. 3. Thanks Joan. I concur completely. This was my first exposure to Dewalt/Theobaldt.. etc and wanted experienced input. Didn't want to spend time chasing the goose! In my case, the 2 were not seen together, but either one or the other. And as one would expect, the Theobaldt & Dewalt was used in the earlier yrs while he used David only in the later yrs. 3. Sue, Have you checked out findagrave.com.  There are several Lentz memorials for Bupps Union Cemetery, York County, with tombstone or marker photos attached to almost all of them.  They were all posted by the same person, or at least the ones I spot checked, so he may be related.  The memorials will have a link to his page and contact info - it may be worth your while to contact him. 3. I have 30 Aug 1859 in York County, PA. The source I have listed is: FILM #0020500, ITEM 3, PAGE 191, PASTORS RECORDS, MARRIAGES. This film can be ordered from any Family History Center of the LDS Church. You might also try records at the York County Heritage Trust, formerly the York County Historical Society. ----- Original Message ----- From: "KS&K" <skramer1221@woh.rr.com> To: <payork@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, June 11, 2009 9:59 AM Subject: [PAYork] Correction for marriage lookup > Requested a marriage lookup for Ephriam Lentz & wife Susan ? > Found them in the 1860 census and they are already married, so > marriage date should be 1858/59 instead of 1864/65. > Sorry > > > ********* > Visit the threaded archives of this list: > http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/PAYORK > ********* > Messages posted to the RootsWeb/Ancestry PAYORK Message Board are > gatewayed to this Mailing List.
