    2. Stan Arney
    3. To all, Well, it's that time of year, that I make my trip to the nearest genealogy library,Midwest Genealogy Center, in Independence, Missouri. Once again, I feel ill prepared, to accomplish my goal, solving the mystery of Jacob Arney. This library is considered, one of the top Genealogy libraries in the country. However, it's resources are still limited, it will not have the great details, that I seek, that are probably only going to be found, in the local libraries (ex. York County, PA, Lincoln County, NC, Wythe County, VA, and Overton County, TN), but alas, I do not have the financial means to visit those libraries.  I will have to settle for, what I can learn online and at the MGC. Any suggestions, about how to proceed, would be greatly appreciated.I leave tomorrow (Monday) and will be there through Thursday. Thank you for your time, consideration, and cooperation, I truly appreciate it. Stan

Author: orbispictus Surnames: Houck Mangold Auman Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.counties.york/15208/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am seeking information about the marriage of my great, great grandmother Maria Houck (1848-1877) to Abner T. Auman (1841-1873). The 1860 census shows Maria's family living in Fairview, York County and the 1870 census shows Maria living in Union, Berks County as a wife and mother. After the 1860 census, I lose track of her parents, Friedrich Christian and Charlotta Mangold. I would love to find later information about them. A Harrisburg Directory seems to indicate that Charlotte (Charlotta) was a widow by 1890 and living in the state capital. When and where Friedrich died and what happened to the couple in the 1870s and 1880s is a mystery. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The book, John Gibson's "History of York County", is digitized on the Heritage Quest website. Many libraries offer Heritage Quest as an online resource available to their cardholders, so if you have a library card, check it out. You can scan the pages for your family and maybe pickup other interesting tidbits of the area. Happy researching. 1. [PAYork] New to list - research question
    2. elizabeth
    3. Hello, I am seeking some advice as to where to look for my ancestor. The earliest record I have of him is in Latimore Twp, Adams Co, PA. in 1807. I know that Adams Co came from York co in 1800. According to his tombstone, my ancestor, Martin ZEIGLER (ZIEGLER, ZEGLER, etc) was born 1778-1779 and from census records, that he was born in PA. I have been to the Adams Co historical society and they had absolutely nothing on my Martin ZEIGLER other than a couple of mentions of him in tax lists around 1807. He migrated to Newport, Oliver Twp, Perry Co, PA about 1820-1830 and died there. (There is another Martin ZEIGLER b. 1770 in York Co who was the son of George Philip ZEIGLER. That one is "not" my Martin. I am positive of that.) Can anyone tell me the best place to go to search records for the 1700's for the area of York Co that became Latimore Twp? Thank you, Elizabeth
